    Hey Allan,

Came across this post of your fuse relay charts. Quick question for you, I operate a website called www.wailtail.com. I have a page specifically for 928 information on it with the user manuals, parts list and relative links. Would ytou be ok with me posting you fuse/relay charts on this site? I can link them however you would like.

This is the page on the site if you want to check it out...

    Thanks Allan,

    hopefully hear from you!

    Hi Alan
I just finished restoring my 1988 928s4 and i can't make the central locking system work by pressing the red key button on the central console!
The key locks and unlocks the doors from both sides
The red key button never illuminated (only when i turn on driving lights, very dim)
Before i start to change parts like module, central indicator etc' i will appreciate your experience successions
    Best Regards
    Jimmy

    Thanks very much.

You can email me at krr@nowthis.net

I recognize this was a lot of work, so I very much appreciate your willingness to share. The generosity you exhibit in sharing detailed and well-researched knowledge makes it possible for someone like me to own and enjoy these cars.

My 928 has several minor electrical issues, and these one sheets are very handy places to start. Given the age of our cars, I Iike to try to eliminate the relays and fuses as the source of the issue before proceeding to more invasive troubleshooting. This guide is so helpful, I have a laminated version in my toolbox. I just recently realized it was version one.

    Thanks again.

Alan, thanks for your diligent effort in creating the single page fuse/relay panel diagram. Is there a link somewhere to find the latest revisions? I've searched the threads, and I can only find the initial release. Perhaps I'm overlooking it somewhere?

    Thanks.

I am troubleshooting several minor electrical issues with my 1988, and I wouldn't even begin to undertake this task without all of the useful information you and others have published here. Thank you for that.

Figures. No one advertises that when they're selling the GTS mirror / wiring kits... Guess we'll make do. Thanks for the info.

Alan, Were trying to do a GTS mirror conversion on an 84... We can get the mirrors to operate L to R , but not Up & Down. No matter which direction we move the joy stick the mirror still operates L to R. We only have the driver side mirror hooked up - would this make a difference? Any idea where we've gone wrong?

    Thanks, Mike and Joel (JBRob007)

So lemme ask ya this. knowing that the car (any car) has two sources of electrical power, generated, and stored, is it safe or accurate to say that there is really only 1 ground path? And that being the ground terminal of the battery. In other words, there are lots of ground "points" but they all are electrically the same, the negative battery post.
As for positive output...obviously it's not as clear. At any moment Available current is a ...ummm...mixture of, or the result of, alternator and battery.

Here's my question, cause it seems simple, so I know then that it's not! Can total current consumption of the whole car, at any moment, be measured at the negative terminal? Battery full or not, alternator charging or not? All electrons in the car at some point come out of that negative terminal...right? Can ya use a "clamp on" amp meter there to get that total figure?

I have been trying for some time to purchase your 928 Electrics pdf without any success. Obviously I am using the wrong website. Can you provide me with the correct details, payment details etc?

I am just starting to refurbish some of the electrics to get rid of a few minor gremlins in my 1988 S4 Auto and would appreciate any hints that you may have.

Kind Regards form Batemans Bay, Australia

    Hi Alan-
I need to do some work on my '82's control head (which is out of the '91). The temp conrtol slider is not functioning progressively (all heat until the very end of the left side) and need to know if the mismatched control head has created the problem or if the control head itself needs rebuilding. Your thoughts?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Larry
