I actually did not do the install and do not have the 10 speaker hi-fi option.. My 1996 993 only has the 2 door and 2 back deck speakers - 4 in total.. I just bought an Alpine head unit and had a local stereo installer do the install - just a swap out of the factory head unit with the Alpine head unit.... Since I do not have the big 10-speaker hi-fi option, I do not think I have the amp under the seat.. I do know that the MBQuart spekaers I bought had crossovers, which the intal guy fitted into the doors.. Sorry I can not be of more help..

Hi, noticed that you posted a while back that you replaced your head unit and that you have the 10 speaker HIFI option. I have the same factory option and I am about to install a JVC KD-AVX77. My question I have for you is if you bypassed the factory amp when you did your install and how exactly you accomplished it when you did it. I was hoping to possibly be able to still make use of the amp and wasn't certain if bypassing the amp would lose the frequency crossover filtering/processing of the current system. I believe the amp is under the passenger seat?? (I'm still in the research phase). Eventually I hope to upgrade the amp and the speakers with after markets, but for now my goal is to stick with the factory speakers and only install the head unit, hopefully resulting in a better sound quality like you mentioned in your post. Any help or advice is much appreciated. Regards, Pat
