I was reading your post about removing your failed autodimming mirror on your 996TT. I have a 03 996TT that just had the same failure. I wanted some clarification as to how you removed the mirror. you mentioned that the twist method does not apply. I agree as the wire tube won't allow a twist. Does the base cover just pry apart with a trim remover? Once the covers are off do you pull the mirror straight down or parallel to the windshield. I've heard of people cracking their windshields trying to remove their mirrors and I do not want to do that.
