I just posted a DIY for steering wheel removal and installation of 997.2. Just letting you know in case you wanted to post on your DIY thread.

Hi James - if cerakoting is similar to powder coating - it should be no problem and the stands look great in red (that's the color of one of my demo pairs). The stands are media blasted at the foundry so a light reblasting shouldn't be a problem. However, when you get them coated ask if they have an "outgas" forgiving powder. Some heat based coating processes result in tiny bubbles in the coated finish which is cause by outgassing when the metal is heated. I doesn't always happen, but I've seen it before. I would suggest leaving the pads un coated. Coating the base and the pads can create a problem between the two mating surfaces of the pad and the base if the coating is too thick.

Hi - I got an email with the following link today from one of my customers. I thought I'd share it with you because guys are always asking about getting more height for Cayennes or for projects that need greater ground clearance. I pass along the same caveat he did in the post as I have not lab tested this setup, but it looks pretty solid.

I've read some good things about Evans coolant but have not switched to it due to my CPO. May switch over afterwards so would be great to see your findings. The one thing I was concerned with is how to top it off in an emergency roadside situation... ie. broken/leaking expansion tank while in a remote part of the country. Water is plentiful but Evans not so much so... may need to carry some in the car JIC.

From what I understand disconnecting the lines under the car is the best way to completely drain the old coolant. Perhaps measure the amount of old coolant coming out to ensure that all 8.7 gallons have been removed before introducing the Evans coolant. Maybe let it drain overnight JIC. BTW, +1 on the 3rd rad. The FVD extended oil pan has also provide some direct oil cooling and another 0.8 liters of oil capacity. I also run a floor fan in my garage pointed directly through the rear wheel/engine compartment to cool off the engine once parked. GL with the project.

Between talking to Luxter (Luke) and Jake Raby I'm feeling like the Evans Waterless coolant is a better heat dispersing agent than traditional coolants. I haven't talked to them about the coolant but they are very sensitive to heating issues. You have made reference to the Hartech #5 article which also sites heat as the main enemy. I had my IMS replaced last year by Flat 6 and noticed coolant the other day on my H2O pump which is coming from my coolant tank. After reviewing the coolant tank R&R procedures it looks like a fair amount of coolant needs to come out (30% to 40%) and I don't like to reuse oil/coolant. So I purchased 10 gallons ofEvans and the same evac tool you have and think between pressurized air, disconnecting water lines under the car, and removing the bumper I can extract all 9 gallons (I have the 3rd radiator) or close to it while replacing my coolant tank.

James - just thought you would be interested. I updated my exhaust with Fabspeed headers, cat, mufflers, and competition intake. I had an IPD 74mm intake and contacted the company through Pelican (the retailer I purchased through). I told Pelican I wanted the 82mm plenum and GT3 throttle body since I had a much more free flowing intake and exhaust. To make a long story short - IPD agreed to give me a full refund on the smaller plenum ($850) and sold me a competition plenum 82mm and a GT3 throttle body. No sense leaving ponies on the table!

    Hey USMC_ DS1,

I noticed you recently went from to the IPD Competition Pleum w/ GT3 throttle body. I was wondering if you noticed a difference in the performance? I recently sold my Boxster Spyder with PDK and have been tracking a 1978 911 track car. I am looking at purchasing a 07 Carrera s with Aero package and would like to upgrade some items on the car like Fabspeed Xpipe, Plenum, ECU flash, 3rd radiator, short shifter, and perhaps suspension upgrades. I do DE events and I am advanced driver so I wanted to get your thoughts on the plenum and whether or not it is snake oil? I have heard with the DFI engines there is really no gain with the plenum. Welcome your feedback.

Hi I just repaired my C2S brembo caliper using the gtnorth forum write up on refurbing a caliper on his GT3.The write up is in the GT3 forum. My damper plate piston got fused into the caliper lateral forward piston hole and I had to replace the caliper piston. I will do a write up when I complete the job this weekend. the GT3north guy had a good writeup on doing the job though. Maybe consider putting it in the 997 DIY link. Thanks Woody

    Part 2 of 2:

I believe RB has some good mech's but you have to get pass the not so technical/honest service reps. If you're still under warranty it might be worth it to have them replace the RMS now. Just be aware they may push an alignment or something else. Some of the RL members recommend Park Place Porsche in Dallas. I called them and yes... their service reps were very honest... no BS service suggested.

    Semper Fi,

    James
