    Hi Richard-

I appreciate the offer but I already have the next project ready to go. I'll look forward to seeing your car and I hope it goes to the moon on BAT!

    Good Afternoon Rob -

I just enjoyed watching your 928 Auction on Bring a Trailer. I am the proud original owner of a 1993 5-speed 928 GTS. I am currently prepping the car for auction on BaT, and I was wondering if you would be interested in purchasing it directly. If you are, we can chat futher about the car's specifics.

    Thanks!
    Richard.

    Hi-

The US market first production 1978 car was 9288200011, so that would be production (factory number) #1. I used to own 9288200021, which is listed in the registry as #0011. So for 1978 you just subtract 10 from the last 4 of the VIN and that's your production number

The same is true for 1979, so your production number should be #374 for the US market.

The 78-79 5-speed no sunroof and manual seats is a great combination, as is the Petrol and Cork. I helped a friend restore a '78 Minverva Blue/ Cork car, love the combo.

A couple of 928 guys have access to some of the options documentation for 928s from 1980-95. Unfortunately that does not include the 78s and 79s. You can contact Porsche classic and get a PPS that will list the option codes at : https://www.pca.org/resource/porsche...thenticity-coa

    Greetings,

I have just purchased a 79 928 vin 9289200384. I have had the good luck to have the counsel of a David Kelly. He suggested I contact you you because he has told me the vin number and factory are different and to register it on the 928 registry I need the factory number.

I am wondering what I have purchased. It's quite simple in that it is non sunroof and no power seats similar to my 78 SC but it looks great in petrol blue over cork leather. A 5 speed with Phone dial wheels that look a darker shade than I anticipated. The tires are 16 shod in 2012 Goodyear M&S. Maybe collectors save on tires but it seemed odd to me.

Can you help me figure out where this car fits into 928 history

I looked at the the documents that came with the car and it seems to have spent most of it life in California. Most recently 928 docs did 11k of work on it.

thx I actually am a member but seem to be on a visitor site
