Greetings from Philadelphia
Hi RL folks,
Long time Rennlist reader and air-cooled Porsche owner but wanted to join in on the discussions during this time of lock down and beyond. Glad to officially be part of the community!
I have owned a Venetian Blue 1987 Carrera coupe since 2016 and I’ve got 162,000 miles on the clock. Besides brake fluid and oil/filter, my sunny day driver has been incredibly reliable and fun to drive over the last 6,000 miles on rallies, to car shows, and out to Hershey a couple of times for the annual swap meet.
My current daily is a 2017 VW GTI 6-speed with a stage 1 APR ECU tune and larger rear sway bar, Koni Cup kit, Michelin PS4s, clutch delay delete and dogbone insert: 316hp, low pro, reliable, comfortable and practical for my 3 year old in her car seat.
However, I miss the thrum of the flat six in my daily driver and I would like my next DD to be a 997.1 or 997.2 6-speed. Unless the perfect car comes up for sale, I’m realistically still 2-3 years away, but I enjoy the hunt. I love the Porsche blues, greens and greys or any PTS examples. I’m enjoying searching the classifieds. That’s one of my daily mental vacations from quarantine reality.
Looking forward to learning more from the community.
All the best,
JW

Very nice and a car like yours is one I'd like to add here some day. I love my 997.2 ( PDK ) but a Carrera coupe has always been my dream Porsche. So, assume you must be a Dallas Cowboys fan since there in Philly, eh?

Impressive list of past and present vehicles. The newest Porsche car I've had seat time in is my brother-in-laws Carrera 4S Cab. 6 speed and compared to my 87 Carrera, that thing sticks to the pavement! He also owned a Macan Turbo, and that was the most fun I've ever had driving an SUV! The 2020s must be like driving a spaceship lol.

The Porsche crest works on those plates bc I have Antique Plates, and in our state, they put a graphic of a Model T that takes up about 1/3 of the left side of the plate and looks really cheesy. I had custom Porsche-crest reflective heavy duty stickers made that perfectly fit over the Model T. Still easy to read my tag # for the powers that be.

When I moved to Philly 8 years ago, I came from having lived in Texas for 8 years, and even though I wasn't from Texas or a Cowboys fan, I got my fair share of heat for it. I mean, it's Eagles fan! They have no mercy!! That PDK gearbox sounds absolutely amazing though I've only had seat time 6 speed water cooled Porsches. Shifts more quickly than we could ever imagine...
