Because they were embarrassed by their car being towed off the ring as the record setting Taycan drove by.
The Model S (properly equipped) is faster to 60 than a Hellcat. Electric vehicles can be incredibly quick, we get that. Tesla has QC issues, they can focus their efforts on that.
Using a truck to out-accelerate a legendary sports car is their way of trying to get viral attention (like all the videos of the aforementioned Hellcats getting dragged). That said, most truck owners aren't interested in winning stoplight battles. Out-tow, out-haul, and outlast an existing half-ton rig, and then they'll have my attention.
