Tesla Cybertruck Reveal - Nope!
Just sat through a terrible 30 min reveal of the new Tesla Cybertruck. The best part of the whole thing was when Elon instructed on of the teslaminions to throw a big steel ball into the drivers side window. Supposed to be breakproof.... crunch! Big shattered indent in the glass. Elon figures it must be a fluke so he orders said teslaminion to throw the ball at the rear driver's side window..... crunch! Same thing. The audience laughter was great.
It looks like a rolling doorstop. Musk showed some pics of vehicles he used as inspiration. One of them was the F-117 Nighthawk. No one thinks that is an attractive aircraft.
The performance metrics are pretty incredible:
0-60mph/99kph - 2.9 seconds
1/4 mile/.4km - 10.0 seconds
Useable load 3500 lbs /1590 kg
Tow rating 14,000 lbs/6350 kg
Range is 250 - 500 miles / 400 - 800 km depending upon configuration
Adaptive air suspension
Onboard compressor
120v and 240v outlets.
I don't see this being much of a work rig despite all the performance goodies. There does not seem to be any way of reaching over the side of the bed to get to anything.
In short, if you liked the Delorean, another stainless steel slug, then you may find the Cybertruck to be visually appealing. Performance metrics aside, it is one fugly machine. Oh, and Elon is the worlds worst presenter. I don't think he even knew what to say most of the time.

I totally agree with you, Dan! This thing is so terrible, and the presentation was the same.
I kept thinking we were being punked, and expected the real one to roll out on the stage any moment.
Now I'm not a truck person, but I believe this thing will have very limited appeal.
I expect the stock to nose dive in the morning.

I can't believe this is real. It's like Musk wants April Fools Day in November. This what Tesla expects to capture the interest of the top vehicle segment in the US? Did they even consider the actual consumers of trucks...
Maybe they have an EV truck coming that's ugly but won't be this ugly. And they are trying to soften the blow by showing this abomination...

This wasn't well thought out. You don't throw large ball bearings at one window--much less two--unless you already know exactly what's going to happen.
Specs and price are awesome, but the design and presentation were ridiculous.

I like it. It's so ugly that it's almost beautiful.
Tesla model s is renault laguna coupe and aston martin ripoff, this thing is at least original and it looks like something my 3 year old would draw, which is cool.

It looks like something a kid would design for his pinewood derby.

Trucks are functional first, good looking second. Looks are subjective. This truck is not as functional as every other vehicle in the segment, which should lead to its downfall.
They won't sell many of these because of the lack of functionality. More money down the tubes that Tesla cannot afford.
