I’ve used RangeRovers.net which is probably similar to this site so probably a more positive perspective than a true research site. I have a 2019 Range Rover Super Charged LWB. It’s gorgeous and it’s a beast. Comfortable and powerful. I tow my enclosed 20 foot trailer with it. Not ideal but it does it OK. 22K miles and no issues. Bottom line advice for anything with Land Rover is to be within warranty. I’ve owned them for years and the reputation of being troublesome hasn’t been true with the ones I’ve had.

Seriously?

I have always been under the impression they are maintenance and reliability nightmares.

Eager to learn something new, as they are beautiful vehicles.

I LOVE mine! Nearly 100k miles and no issues. Full size supercharged. Maintenance isn't bad either. If I did it again I'd probably buy a diesel. Mine gets about 14 mpg.

I have a plurality of neighbors who drive them. Always new ones. Never driven off road.
What made some people RR's over MBz or Cayenne's, etc.?
I had a GL450 years ago and loved it...When I wasn't replacing parts when it got to be 5 years old.

I think they were poor reliability back in the day, since the new design of ~2014 or so, has been drastically better.

I have a new P400 Defender. Have about 1000 miles on it but it's a fun little car. I second www.rangerovers.net

^ Gorgeous defender - I'm seriously considering one, how do you find the comfort and day to day usability of the interior (just looks made up from the RR parts bin to me with the shifter on the dash)...Have had a 2016 RR Sport V8 since "new" (280 miles). It is an amazing vehicle. Got it because was a holdover demo vehicle, had to replace a SUV, and got a great deal with it being 1 model year "old"...engine is a beast, it sounds great. I don't think the SVR is necessary as this thing takes off with drama and its fast (drama is in the sound and visceral nature of the thing, not in control). Has been as reliable as any other car I've owned, although they did replace one of the pumps for the suspension during a visit (it wasn't acting weird or warning about anything). We bought with a service contract for 3 years of service and extended warranty as a "just in case" so time will tell if the extended warranty was worth it. Like others say I would not have this out of warranty. I have serviced the Brembo Brakes and replaced tires at the same time to the tune of $4500 3 years in. Will hold onto this one until RR announced end of V8s (being told 2022 last year of the V8) and trade in for a new one at that time. My thoughts on RR are if you get one with electronic gremlins you're screwed and just get rid of it, they will never fix it...if you get a normal one you're fine. Wear and tear and wearable parts....but they have about 8 different replaceable filters in the thing so potential for big service bills starting around the 70000 mile mark. another vote for RangeRovers.net.

Old ones, Defendersource and NAS-ROW

New ones, just keep them in warranty

Thanks for the info so far. Wife wants the full sized model. Like others here, I was working under the assumption that QC was still poor but it sounds like that may no longer be the case.

Anyone have an idea on the markup and discounts for RRs? I understand entirely new generation is due late next year.

Maybe you should skip the new Defender. This guy is on his 3rd one after the first two failed and were replaced by Range Rover

Those two have nearly an issue with everything they touch. The channel is pretty unwatchable after their Raptor series.
