FORD: Boss 302
The Ford dealers seem to think they're going to get $5,000 to $10,000 over sticker for these. I've made some offers of $1,000 over invoice but so far, no takers. Please let me know if you know of any reasonable dealers out there in Ford Country. Competition Orange, preferably.

That's a great car. Are you looking for the Laguna Seca Edition? I have no leads for you, but am anxious to hear your experience. I had a 1997 Cobra, and the new 6-cylinder, base Mustang has more HP than my old Cobra! They have come a long way!

I'm no longer a Mustang expert, but if I'm not mistaken, one of the "&" books I was reading at the gym pronounced the Boss 302 the "best Mustang ever." Better in some ways than the Shelby. Strong words.
Apparently, the stealers in your area also read the article and are pricing accordingly. I'm sure that will do wonders for their community goodwill during the lean times when they need to push the last hundred or so Fusions out the door. Way to think long term. A better way would be to track customer loyalty points and give these customers first crack at the hot models.

I'd be interested in the Laguna Seca if it came in Competition Orange. I've gotta be honest - I just don't really like the comsetics of the Laguna Seca. And it has no rear seats.
The Base Boss with the helical diff and recaros should still be pretty adequate for DE's, I'd think.

I stand corrected. We did sell the 1st one at sticker, now the 2nd is going for 10k over....standing offers from other dealers at 5-6k over.
I don't agree with this tactic. We did the same thing starting out with the Ford GT, ended up selling the last one for invoice.

I was sort of tempted by this car too; the regular model not the Laguna Seca. Nice combination of useability and track day car. So Ford makes a decent car and sells it as if it is some limited exclusive car. Ford must be learning from Porsche, but Ford is no Porsche. Why can't they just build enough to meet demand. This is stupid and just helps convince me that I do not want the car.

Selo,
I called North Bay Ford, here in Santa Cruz. They have ONE Boss coming in October. Already sold... at... wait for it....
$15k over MSRP.
Holy crap. She said there will be 5000 Boss 302s built.
Sorry.

Try Galpin Ford in North Hills, CA.
I have no affiliation but they are supposed to be the biggest dealer and may have the best allocation. Good luck - sounds like a fun car!

I was at Laguna Seca last year when they released the L.S. edition. I was impressed! I am a huge Ford fan, but I think they are crazy selling these cars for the amount they are asking. Car and Driver predicted the price of these to be $36,000 which sounds about right. The local dealer has one in yellow with an MSRP of $53,000!

Mustangs have historically always had a terrible resale value (classics not included), even the Roush, Saleen and Cobra cars take huge depreciation hits. I guess only time will tell with these new models though.

I remember when the Lincoln Aviator first came out. I was interested in one and went to the dealer to check one out. Was surprised to see that it was marked up by $5000. I wasn't allowed to test drive one either. Bought a new Mercedes ML500 a few days later instead. And looked what happened to the Aviator in the end.

Thanks for the tip. But like someone else on the post already said, the greed and stupidity of the dealers do kind of sour my taste for one. I mean, for 53g I could get into some pretty sweet cars. at $43000, msrp, it is priced absoutely right. Dumbasses.
