opinions on a 'new to me' car
I'm looking for a 'new to me' daily driver to relace my boring, un-interesting, un-cool 1998 chevy Lumina. I'm not looking for a mind blowing super car, I have a 928 GT for that. I have a few in mind and thought I would ask the panel their thoughts on the list I have in mind. Now the factors to consider are;
1- fun to drive
2- convertable
3- resonable repair costs(no Lambo's or ferrari's)
4- fuel mileage( I do about 750 km per week, Grimsby to Toronto, so no vette's)
5- possible auto with Tip, so my wife could drive it aswell(i'm cosiderate of her driving abilities too......wink, wink)
The cars I have in mind that I will start my search are;
1- Porsche Boxster
2- BMW Z3
3- Honda S2000
4- Audi TT convertable
5- Mazda Miata
6- 05-06 Smart-diesel-convertable
So, I'm just looking for feedback on your experiences with any of these cars, or if there is something else that might fit in here.

Race Car
Miata is probably the lowest cost, still fun. So many of them out there and so many parts. The Boxster-depends on year but have to address IMS; Z3, unless its the later M, no interest. Smart? Um...TT, fun and comfortable. S2000-great but lots of kid-racers ruin the engines and gear boxes.

I would go for a Mazda MX-5 Miata unless you have so much money it does not matter. This will be my next car if my 928 gets too expensive to keep, but I plan on staying the course.

S2000 is superbly fun to drive (have had one for 8 years +) but they are all 6 speed manuals, so if your wife needs an 'auto' it's out of the running.......
