DIY Sport Plus programming of sport mode button
Hello all,
I have a 2010 Panamera Turbo without the sport plus option. I am aware of the sun coast sport plus retrofit option: https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/970SMS.html I was quoted $1400 all in by my local dealership to install this option. I'm mostly interested in the different trans programming and launch control function.
I have seen mention of Boxster owners reprogramming their sport mode button to function as a sport plus button, but never seen it done on a Panamera. Anyone aware of how to do this/if it's possible? Sounds like it might require an PCM activation code on a PIWIS in Engineering mode. I asked a local indy about this (they have a PIWIS) and they said they have no idea and aren't willing to risk screwing around with it.
Thanks

I have a 2011 4S that had dealer installed sport plus. And yes, it needs to be coded to work. I don’t know if an indy has the ability. Mine was installed 8 yrs back by dealer for less than half…but time value of money!
just so you know, recording and lap times do not work with the clock/full package. But it will wake your car up and feel like a completely different car.

I “may” be incorrect. According to a NHTSA doc for Macans, you can use a PIWIS to get to enabling PCM sport chrono menu.

i can’t find a doc for 970 but should be the same. Take it with a grain of salt.

Programming Sport/SportPlus onto the steering wheel?
Hi Gents,
My question is similar but slightly different.
My 970 2010 Panamera S has both Sport and Sport Plus and the main cluster does show the correct modes when selected.
Recently, my friend gave me the Turbo S steering wheel that I helped him converted the push/pull shift buttons to the Tech-Art paddles. He sold his car and asked me to put the original wheel in. And to reward me with all the helps/efforts through the years, I ended up with the Turbo S steering wheel w/ paddle shifters.
Work fines in my car, but I'd like to get the display area on the top of the steering wheel to light up in accordance with the main cluster when selecting the appropriate mode.
1. What's involved in such programming tasks?
2. Is this a sort of "dealer-only" thing?
3. Launch mode programming also possible? Or am I dreaming? :-)
Regards, Dz.

if yours has sport plus, it should have launch mode. If it was after production installed, then someone with a PWIS needs to activate it. Even Indys can do this if the plus was assigned to your VIN through P.
I don’t know about the steering wheel. That would be slick to add but I think you’ll find the people that have done this to be roughly 2 970 owners. Hopefully someone chimes in.
