Default 993/996 Factory Limited Slip Differential $900

Category: Drivetrain
Price (no $ sign please): $900
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part fits (select ONLY those which apply): 993, 996
Location (Region): SouthEast
Item Condition: Used

I'm clearing out my garage in anticipation of a move to Germany.

This is a Porsche stock 80/20 clutch type limited slip, used, likely from a 993. The clutch plates look like new. 80 deceleration and 20 acceleration. Compatible with all g50 transaxles and a swap fit to a 996 with correct shimming. I believe it can also be upgraded by Guards transmission for more aggressive lock-up.

Any idea how many miles are on it? Also, how do you test the clutch plates to confirm they're "like new"?

Default guessing mileage of a LSD

I have no idea of the mileage. I have inspected the unit and the best way I know to evaluate the wear level is the clutch and steel plate wear surfaces. The clutch plates do not look worn and the steel plates still have the original machining marks, so they have experienced very little wear. Most street Porsche LSD units experience very little wear, many showing almost no sign of wear after a significant amount of miles. A LSD in a racing situation is different. If concerned these plates can be replaced with stock or upgraded to a larger number of more aggressive plates. Last time I checked with Matt @ Guard they charged 1k to upgrade the plates on this unit. These plates do appear to be like new, which is very common for these units.

Default price reduction

I also have a 996 C2 transaxle with 59K miles that is compatible with this unit for $1700 listed separately.
