Hello Folks,

for sale: DEX P99 Pioneer headunit with bezel, about 7 mouths old install..

long story short: I had replaced my audio on my 997.1 GT3 to reference quality system less than an year ago.
I am now trading in my 997.1 for 997.2 GT3 and I don't have any intentions putting any more $$$ on the new car now. So would like to sell the DEX P99RS Head Unit mounted on a Custom bezel Machined from high grade aluminum (to reclaim some of my down payment :) )
I'd like to sell the whole as an assembly so that our work isn't fully lost. (let's just say that a lot of time and money went into the Bezel alone)
GT3 owners might find this uniq and interesting, I hope.

quick glimpse of the DEX P99 RS (price I paid: $1199 from Crutchfield in mid 2010)
-- One of the best Ref quality head unit out there (with a built in DSP, Sound retriever, crossover etc.)
-- 32bit DSP/24 bit DAC/31 Band EQ/copper plated chassis.
-- CD/iPod/USB-MP3/FM/AM
-- have the manuals, remote, cables + boxes.

Bezel: (price I paid: you'd think I am crazy ;-) )
-- Custom Designed and Engineered in a state-of-the-art machine shop (ref. available)
-- Painted to match (99.8%) OEM color of the bezel and clear coated
-- "GT3" script engraved
-- Genuine Alcantara+ french seam stitching, color is close match (98%) to OEM
-- Head unit is assembled on 3 pieces: Bezel + Panel that's alcantara wrapped + steel plate-rail to mount the whole unit.
-- Bezel uses the after market rails to mount double DIN HU, bought off of ebay.
-- the whole thing just plugs right into and replaces the CDR unit as is. No mounting modification needed
-- The bottom piece (where I wanted to put the a opening for embedding escort display during the next version of my bezel) is made with metal sheet and is wrapped with genuine Alcantara (to go with GT3 interior) can be unscrewed and wrapped with leather, CF, painted etc.

Condition: There is no scratch or damage on the head unit or bezel in the front or sides of the painted area.. very very very minimal usage wear. Ofcourse the back side there are tool + nuts and bolt markings :)

Asking price: it's kind of used, I am asking $1800 for the whole set (HU $850 + Bezel $950)

Not related to this sale, but a side note for other Audio Enthusiasts driving Porsche out there: I'll provide a little more info of the Audio system itself. I wanted to have minimal components and best possible sound quality. Install was done by SimplicityInSound (no affiliation)-- but one of the Best Installers there is. Good guy to work with and comes up with best specs. got him through references from diymobile audio form..

-- Install was inconspicuous. you can't spot anything out of factory ordinariness (other than the Head Unit, ofcourse)
-- We had made a JL audio 8" SW + custom made Enclosure near the footwell with contours same as Bose SW in the Cayman S that I used to own proir to 997 GT3 upgrade. (so, I used the OEM carpet for 987 with bose in my GT3)
-- Front speakers were Seas Lotus reference audio (Darn Good speakers)
-- 2* Zapco Amps (class A/B for Mid and Tweeters)
-- 1* JL Digital amp for SW.
-- This install turned out to be one of the best audio systems I have ever had in any factory installed audio. slightly costlier than OEM Bose offering from Porsche, but I was 10x times as satisfied

While I have a Cayman and I'm not a candidate for this setup, I applaud your no holds barred approach!

Thanks Chris.. I just wanted to make sure I don't mess up the way factory interior appears as in on a GT3 in the name of an audio upgrade.

I know its been a while since your post, and I'm new to Porsche and to this forum, but any chance you still have a factory bezel? I have a 2005 Carrera S with Bose PCM, black on black with Volcano Grey bezel. Some paint is peeling from the bezel so I'd like to replace it if possible. Thanks.
