I've seen many cabs at the tracks. Keep in mind that all Boxsters are cabs, and they're not shy at all for track time. I wouldn't think twice about taking a cab on the track.

Before heading out, check the local cab requirements for roll bars/hoops as they vary by club and region.

No never - the photo in my avatar is fake

Kidding asside, there is nothing wrong with a cab at the track, you just need a roll bar. Some folk will tell you it's heavier and more flexible and not the "optimum" track car - ignore them. That may be true if your are a very experienced driver and into a race that you want to win. For us mortals who are learning to drive at the track in DE events, a cabriolet is more than adequate and a hell of a lot of fun.

I second what Tom W said. I track my Cab and have been somewhat competitive in it as well. Just be sure to be safe. I wouldn't track a car without a rollbar, even if the event/club rules allow it.

ditto, nothing wrong with tracking a cab. the roll bar is a good idea, especially if you put in a 5 pt. harness. as for speed, the cabs can be made to be very competitive. fundamentally they weigh ~80lbs more than a coupe with no sunroof. many people talk about the flex of a cab. i agree that a cab is not as rigid as a coupe, but then again once a good roll bar is installed that fortifies the car very nicely.

just my 2 cents....

cheers,
boris
