SYSTEM ERROR!
After installing my iPod (mObridge) and Sirius radio in my CS, I figured I don't need my CDC-4 any longer. I sold it on eBay. I had it removed professionally and immediately got this message on my PCM: "SYSTEM ERROR! Amplifier, CD Changer not available" Now, I have nothing; no iPod, no Sirius, no radio, etc. Has anyone been down this road? Reset somehow?

The needed to link the two fibres together to complete the loop. One was supplied with your mobridge unit. Whoever installed it did not know what they were doing. Call Scott at mObridge and ask his advice. Its an easy fix if you can find the part. it looks link a plastic ring with a connector at its root.

...what he said.. and possibly it is (I did this), your fiber connection is wrong.. i.e. he has the wrong direction of the light flow connected.. there are arrows on the fiber for direction.. maybe just take it back to installer..

Ahh, ring technology. Nothing like reliving the glory days of the 1980's in technology! Token ring is THE technology. BAH! Ethernet is better (never mind all those collisions on the wire - you've just got too many device on that segment! What, there are only 3 devices.... Welllllllllllll). Too bad we don't get beaconing anymore!
Who knew that light only traveled in one direction and that these "high speed" technologies are actually REALLY FAST serial connections.
It almost makes me want to go revive my old X.25 and ATM (not the money kind - the network kind) gateways! Almost, but not quite.

Tolken Ring - same ideal still used in connectivity of some CISCO backplanes (Infina Band and Stack Wise switches).

Old is when you remember programmers' toolkits that contained pliers and screwdrivers so you could rewire logic boards at a moment's notice!
Old is remembering 3330's with REMOVEABLE plattens.
Bonus question - What color is your OLDEST IBM Systems Reference Card? I have a Green Card, a White Card AND a Yellow Card. And if I looked hard enough, I can still find my OS-VS1 Control Block books (all 3 volumes!)
Did I say I was OLD?

If you keep making me feel old like this, I may throw a brick of punch cards at you, - or maybe a FORTRAN 66 reference notebook, if my arthritic shoulder will let me lift it that high.
Actually, come to think of it, back then was the last time I could consider myself truly computer literate. I could work on my own cars back then, too.

Highly improbable and if so, the POF is damaged beyond repair. AFAIK, PAG does not supply tools/procedures for installing/polishing a new termination on POF (it's a bit of a PITA to do properly)
The ring is simply open/broken. Remove the rear cargo panel, shut off all the lights and you will likely see a small red light coming out of the (dangling) POF for a few seconds...then the PCM will shut down the ring
