Mooty, that's what happens when you leave the GTS in Sport mode all the time!

Default Suggested Towing Light Configuration.

Great Tow Vehicle. Highly recommended.

Specs. of this configuration:

~50 lbs. (Long holiday week-end & bottled beer is consumed at a higher rate)
2" Ball
No Brake Controller
No velcro added mirror extenders
Low Level PASM Setting (however HIGH would reduce back strain during uncoupling)
Minimal reversing capabilty, trailer doesn't react well to cut wheels

In my opinion, the rear view out of the extension mirrors is not that great.
You need long ones as the Cayenne is narrower than a F3500, and at the end of them, the wind makes them wobbling, etc.. (You may become seasick before boating just looking at them !)
I tow a 4'000 pounders (that likes water, not tracks) plus 1’000 pounds for the trailer and for sure, the center mirror is totally useless.
Looking at it, you only have the feeling that something huge is tailgating you big time!
But, with a "rear view" camera, a long "Siamese" cable (12v + coax), and a small flat monitor in place of the center mirror (for a total less than 200$ on eBay), you can change your towing life drastically. You will not miss any flashing vehicle on your back anymore, and, it is also a great help for changing lanes, etc..

Another one about Towing:
I recently learnt the difference between a “4 Flat” and a “5 Flat” connector:
Ok, this is one more wire, but then what ?
The fifth connector is the brake signal, and it normally goes to a solenoid in the trailer brake activator, that release the pressure when the reverse is on !
So, ..you no longer have to get off the car, going to the rear to try to put on the reverse pin, realize that you have to go back at the wheel to move forward a tiny bit to clear the “reverse” hole, go to the rear again to put the reverse pin in, and then if all goes well, you can do your reverse maneuver !
Well, may be, being Swiss, I may be very slow, i.e.: to understand this one, but still feel that it may be good to share it (at least ..for other Swiss’s

I towed my Trailex open trailer with the '83 Sc and four extra tires and wheels from South Texas to Keystone Co. for Parade behind my '08 GTS which was also loaded with "stuff" . The Cayenne is an amazing vehicle and it pulled strong at the speed limit even up and over an 11,000 foot peak. There were at least five Cayenne tow vehicles ("S" GTS and a Turbo) at parade. several had steel open trailers, one and enclosed one. I did not hear of any problems and everyone had to climb mountains to get there. I have the factory tow package and the trailer has surge brakes. Majority of the time the transmission was in auto and 6th gear. It did downshift as far down as third on one especially steep grade. Mileage over all was just at 13MPG . No visibility problems with the open trailer but can see where it would be more limited with and enclosed. Short wheel base is not as big an issue as it would be on many vehicles because of the peppers wide track and all wheel drive

I would disagree.
AWD brings little to the stability of a trailer and 'wheelbase matters'.
