Front brakes wear quicker than rears, simply based on bias and weight distribution.

Just eyeball 'em. You don't need a warning light to tell you whether there is any pad material left. It's hard to see how you could have worn them down in only 8 months - how many miles have you put on during those 8 months?

I had over 50K miles on my C-S before the front wear sensor triggered. I changed my rear pads at over 71K miles and the wear sensors hadn't even triggered yet.

20K miles in 8 months is a lot of miles, but I'd be surprised if you've worn out pads in that time unless you've got a caliper issue causing the pads to drag - and you'd probably hear something if that was the case. Check the wiring for your pad sensors and see if any of them have broken.

front wons are definately worn--possibly it was the drilled rotors that are eating the pads---i am putting hawk at front to see if they last a little longer
