Your age group or "looking ghetto" have nothing to do with it. There are some fine examples of black wheels out there, just none of the ones that were shown in this thread.

Some people say "once you go black..." but I never heard "once you go darker..." although those look good. My wife looks good with a suntan too or maybe just different is the appeal back to topic: I like the regular wheel for a woman driver and a darker or black wheel for a male driver given it's on a black car. If it were white car, regular wheel for guy, white powder coat wheel for gal, sexist though it seems, and of course money to spend required.

As long as you are happy with your wheels, that's all that matters
My previous CT had dark grey powder coated wheels, and for a long time i thought they looked great...till I drove out west and showed up in Beverly Hills and parked at this hotel next to Ferraris and Bentleys...not one of them with black wheels
To me,the dark rims simply had an unfinished, dirty look...kind of like a cop car without hubcaps
I am quite happy with the same wheels as w00t
Just my 2c

I had mine refinished recently and decided to go with titanium color. Anyway, just an idea. But at the end you decide

First winter set. Painted, not powder coated. Paint is much cheaper and easier to touch up for winter wheels

Is know its not the same generation Cayenne, but the same basic color combo.

Winter set #2 with a great dramatic background!(still paint, not powdercoat)

....and the summer wheels. Which are powdercoated.

I considered powder coating my 18" wheels black... then i reconsidered...

it kinda looks/gives the impression of having 4 spare tires on your car...

also it really cheapens/takes away from the natural beauty of the metal...

kinda like painting brick, stone, or wood...

you have wheels there that cost $8000 for the set... I think you can get some generic black wheels off ebay for under a grand... and not deface those OEMs you have there...

just my .02

I HATED the factory turbo wheels in silver. Stupidest looking wheel on earth. Paint them black and all of the sudden they look like kind of a cool wheel.

IMO it totally highlights the shape of the wheel that was lost in silver.

Horrible starfish looking things stock.

Thanks.

Honestly, black wheels are not for every car and color. They work well on certain colors and certain cars, and of course with certain wheels.

Used to hate them, now I have kind of a love for black wheels.

It's been said, but worth repeating: It's your ride, do what ya wanna do! I have 22" black (with chrome lip, lugs and centercap); I also have chrome dipped 20" Sport Techno's, and for winter, a third set-up that's entirely black ('murder' look, I guess the kids call it) 20" Sport Techno that were powder-coated.
I like 'em all.
