Default "NEW" Cayenne Aluminum & Carbon Fiber Drive Shafts

Lindsey Racing now carries both Aluminum and Carbon Fiber Drive Shafts for your
'03 thru '08 cayenne. V8 Models only.

Currently there is a two week build/ship wait but we will be keeping then in stock for immediate shipment soon.

http://www.lindseyracing.com/LR/Parts/955AXLE.html

The shafts will replace the notorious hanger bearing issue and also eliminate the front Guibo (rubber drive).

If you have questions, we will try to get them answered quickly.

Only good things with less rotational mass in the drive train.

Cool. I'll be interested to hear how these shafts perform. The original Porsche design really blows......

Wait, what?

How is this different from the cardan shaft? And, if it's the same thing by a different name, why is it V-8 compatible only? What am I misunderstanding here?

I'm thinking due to the weight savings there is no need for the center support Bearing anymore? Definitely less mass out there. I can say I've had great luck with Lindsey products for my 944T and 911. There modified 17" Fuchs are popular. Not sure I want to be the first person though.
P.S. Going by their website shipping weight numbers I see stock: 28#, Aluminum 23#, Carbon Fiber 20#.

Yes being its a single shaft you will have a more responsive feel to it. With the stock shaft the Giubo has to twist a little, then the hanger moves and after all that the vehicle will move. Being its more or less solid after it will be more responsive or athletic feeling.

The 3.5" aluminum shaft is rated for 3500lbs, and the 3.25" carbon designed originally for the SRT8 cars (4500lbs) will handle aprox 4100lbs of torque.

The term Cardan is in reference to a u-joint or double u-joint style shaft you would see under older 70's GM car and some newer Trucks. The Stock shaft has a rubber Guibo at the front, then the hanger and after that is has 2 CV's like the ones were using on each end. This pretty much removing the "problem" parts and making a single shaft.

What effect does a single shaft have on the height adjustment of the suspension from low to high?

It would have no effect. The axles are doing the work in that situation and the diff does not move.

First I would like to point out that this is not our product or design. The decal is on the shaft if you look. We have been doing some good business with the manufacturer and have a good working relationship. They suggested we roll this product out and we are doing just that.

We do business worldwide and can ship to anyplace DHL, UPS or the Post Office will deliver to. Nobody stocks these yet, including the manufacturer. Currently there is a 2 week build to ship time. We will stock when they start moving so people can get one ASAP.
