Default used croc

Could you elaborate on the dfi issues to which you refer ??
Although you'll not get a dfi for 30 K, as the owner of an 08 and then 09 (dfi) croc, I'd be wary of longterm ownership of any intermediated shafted waterpumper.

One weakness of the M96 engine is the Intermediate Shaft Bearing (IMS) and there is the ability in a 2006 to replace the factory unit with a third party (LN) unit (generally done at clutch replacement time) on an '06 where the '07-'08 engines require the disassembly of the crankcase in order to replace the bearing due to a design change. The difference in cost is thousands of labor dollars.

Most Caymans have the M97 engine with no IMS problems. The 05's and some early 06's would probably have a M96. Beside the dealer, a Durametric can retrieve the engine specs.
