Thank you for the clarification. Unless someone corrects me, I'll assume "intermediate shaft" is another way to refer to what I'd previously heard called a "balance shaft"--the part that had occasionally caused catastrophic engine failure in 987.1 cars and indeed was discontinued in 2009 MY. Thanks again.
