Default 2014 Cayman : any issues or problems?

For those who are driving a 2014 Cayman: I was wondering if you have encountered any problems with the car. I have read through this forum, and scoured youtube and the internet, and so far the 2014 Cayman appears to be a reliable car.

Could folks here chime in on the 2014 Cayman in terms of reliability thus far?

Thanks in advance.

Mine has been reliable for ~5000 miles of fair weather driving. Two minor issues were encountered. The first was a bogus intermediate service warning on startup, which required a dealer reset. Evidently this was a software glitch that now has a patch. The second was a door latch problem that appeared in the first few days. It also was repaired without causing any drama.

Red airbag warning light on the tach came on two weeks ago, stays constant, is probably a bad sensor. 6,400 miles so-far. Will have airbag warning checked in June, when it goes in at its first service.

Thanks for the replies; all in all, that's good news. Minor stuff, in the grand scheme.
Cheers.

I've done quite a bit of research myself, and mechanically (the most important factor), they seem to be solid. But with the closest dealer 5 hours away, the little crap (as listed above) that amounts to a minor inconvenience for most, would become a major hassle for me. If you have a local dealer, I'd have no reservations to buy one. Good luck.

I had same nuisance intermediate service indication that took two visits to dealer to fix, reloaded all SW, now that seems OK, and if memory serves I also had a vac pump associated with pollution control fail, or at least that's what they changed.

I get around 25mpg in stop and go freeway traffic, about 31 to 32 on open roads.

I have noticed that the tail pipe is very black - dealer says this is normal - anyone else notice this?

Oh, and if you are used to a 911, the inability to fully recline the seats while waiting for significant other to do shopping is a minor inconvenience.

My Cayman S is about 1 year old and close to 6K miles of driving (including 3 DE's) and no problems whatsoever.

This past December I traded my 2005 Carrera for a 2014 Cayman S. I've got about 2K miles on the clock and so far no problems. A few minor annoyances like the electronic parking brake, limited rear visibility due to rear pillars, and brakes still squeal like a stuck pig at slow speed. Over all I'm very happy with this Porsche and don't regret not getting another base model Carrera for 20K more.

We bought a 2014 CPO Service Loaner S with 2500ish miles on it last November. Now at 7500 miles and zero problems. Even drove it once in the snow, which was only mildly terrifying.

I find the radio ON default annoying. I use to always check engine oil on our 03 Boxter cold, can't do it on the new Cayman. The Tack numbers on our PDK car are invisible in daylight, even with headlights on. No USB without navigation. Our base POP Fiat has USB. And Page 2 warning about possible oil starvation with track tires. I thought we were way past that. ? Can anyone identify, define, track tire problem? Is it tread wear (like 40). Is there a "G" limit they don't want you to exceed? Gordon

Could someone please describe the exact process of removing the carpet panel over the engine cover? I haven't tried yet but according to planet-9 posts it's not as easy as the previous model. Thx.
