Does anyone in and around the CT/tri-state area own a Porsche Design Edition I Cayman S? I would like to see the stripes that are on the car as a possible design idea for my Cayman S. I would like to use FLX in tungstun grey. I have checked everywhere and no one has the design specs. I can buy the stripes from Porsche but at a $2k cost. I also do not want the "Porsche Design" logo on the hood as my car is not a Porsche design car. If so, please respond or PM me. I love the look and I think they would look great on my 07' Cayman S...

Hi there....is that yours in the pic? Mine is a speed yellow Cayman S too, manufactured July 2006. I am also looking for those Porsche design look alike stripes to fit on my car. There are some after-market products but quality is somewhat lower, meaning that after certain car washes you may find the corners peeling off which make it extremely ugly. There are other problems fixing decor on light colored cars....the edges along the stripes may become dirt magnets, just like the original protective films on the rear panels below the vents. Alternatively, you may forget about the stripes, but consider the techquipment aluminium color side vents, front spliters, front grills and mirror lower arms. You may check on the Porsche official website to see how they look on a speed yellow Cayman. I personally like it cos it enhances the shape......well, if I do find the stripes on line, I'll let you know. Happy driving !!

Yep, I picked the car up a few weeks ago. This will become my new track car and replace the 86' 951. What aftermarket stripe kits are you referring too? If I can get the disign vector or buy a cheap set as an example, I can get FLX to make them in their high quality film and in any color. Once the stripes are on and I like them, then I would wrap the hood and the roof in premium film by xPel. I have the entire car wrapped now in xPel's premium film to defend from track chips.

There's a guy on ebay that regularly lists "replacement" stripes that look pretty much the business but without the PORSCHE DESIGN EDITION 1 nonsense all over them. Not the side stripes though, I don't think. Way cheaper than the genuine parts, and made of the same outdoor-spec vinyl decal material.
I have #356 (but am in CA) so I'll vouch for as good as these things look in the ebay ad. |
