Thanks for the info, makes those of us on the fence pause a bit. Pricing, well spyder:boxster as rs:cayman.. Something like that, what's so hard to figure out?

I imagine some of the costs associated with the Spyder were due to creating and manufacturing the new top and design of the speedster humps. However, there shouldn't be any redesign associated with a RS Cayman. I know it sounds proposterous but I wish it would cost less than a standard S. I'm sure in typical Porsche fashion it will be 10-12% higher and I'll still get in line to buy one.

I see where you're coming from, but these things are never based on what they 'cost' to the mother ship. Obviously, caymans would be cheaper than boxsters then. Of course, some cost allocation is very difficult...

The price is almost always set by what they think they can get away with. And yes, I think your guess is spot on. It will be priced higher, it will be barer but it may have a few sport/performance options baked in.

Announced by whom? What's a GSM meeting? Why would Porsche allow such an announcement to be made before an official press release? They would know it would be made public.

I'll believe this when it comes straight from Porsche's mouth.

+1 to Bob... 220 is doing us a favor, of course it's subject to change yet still a little taste of things to come. Take it easy.

How sexy would it be if the lightweight Cayman was named, Porsche Cayman Superleggera?

I know improper German & Italian mixing but it sounds cool.
