Default Early 6 cup air filter boot

Anyone have a source for a 2000 6cup bmc filter boot? The silicone one between the TB and filter? I’ve seen a few but they all seem to be specific for late 6 cup.

Are you talking about the BMC filter itself?

Went to the local hot rod shop, they had 3 1/2" silicone turbo inlet connectors, $18 out the door, perfect fit, and they have an internal layer of mesh reinforcing, way more robust than the original.
thanks

Mine became disconnected at one end and melted. I used that as an excuse to update to the later carbon fiber ram air piece.

yeah mine was the consistency of hardened jello, basically crumbles to pieces, I really hope this kind of silicone wasn’t used anywhere else important...

^^^ can one of you post a pic of what the intake set up looks like on an early 6 cup? Is it the same as the pic I posted above of my ‘03? I’m curious to see what it looks like. Mine is just the single piece filter that attaches directly to the throttle body.

Spiller, mines same as yours, there’s a 90mm silicone tube that attaches the back of the carbon fiber housing to the throttle body. They get old and tear.

Do you mind showing a pic of your shroud/filter set up? Mine is different to what you’re describing. The cars were delivered new by Porsche with just the air filter attached directly to the TB. The shroud in my pic simply surrounds the filter and was a control item implemented by Carrera Cup in Australia when the 996 was current. The filter remains directly attached to the TB.

This is mine

Mine looks like this, the air filter screws to the carbon fiber housing

Thanks for the pic, that’s what I thought. Looks like the late cup style with the flat air filter.
