Default WTB 2004 or 2005 Rear End Cable Loom (chassis harness)

I everyone. Well, we thought we were good.

We have a 2005 cup here that had a bit of a mishap last year. The engine bracket cracked at the right hand side welded joints (which is why everyone should buy a Demon Speed RSR style engine plate). When the engine dropped a bit, it pulled the return line out of the power steering pump. As we all know, PS fluid is flammable (which is why there is a drain line that goes through the bumper). Well, that cought the car on fire. Not bad, but the engine came out, it went to the body shop and it looks great now.

So, some of the damage was that the engine harness and the car side harness that attaches to the engine harness and runs to just behind the drivers seat was all melted. We bought a replacement from Glen, but now that we are putting everything back in, the harness are different. The fuel pumps are not running, so there must be enough of a difference between the two harnesses (we can see a pair of relays on the early harness that are not in the same location on the old harness)

So, we are looking again for a harness. It needs to be a 2004 - 2005 harness. The one that goes from under the engine compartment with the two big round connectors and then ends up behind the drivers seat. The part number we need is 996.612.801.96.

Thanks

Ed

I have an 02 rear engine harness. Which was a late electric car, will it not work. My impression was 02thru05 engine loom was the same...

Hi Glen,

The engine loom is all the same. The 02 and 03 were different from the 04 and 05 for the mid and front chassis harness. Looks like the difference is where the fuel pump relays are. The later harness seems to have them in the front harness while the early have them in the rear.

Thanks

Ed

One thought is to just run a jumper at the fuel pump relays separately.
I did that when I put a TT into a C4S to make up for the difference in harnesses...

I have one for sale, but it’s wrapped with a Cup Car.
