Demon Speed Tire Warmer Tips:
This write up is to show how to get the most heat from the tire warmers.
We can talk about some of the tips that may seem obvious, which we will, but we will also talk about some that are less obvious.
1. Use the side covers. Wind circulating through the inside of the wheel will cool off your efforts to heat the tires, so everything you can do to stop that airflow helps.
2. Take your tires off and stack them. If you can and have the time to pull the wheels off the car and put the tires with the warmers on them in a stack, then you will create a tower of heat.
3. Plug them in early. We always say to give them about an hour to get up to heat, but to really get them hot it may take longer. And the longer they heat the more they heat up the wheels too. We have one customer that leaves them overnight, which we are not endorsing, but you get the idea.
4. Add more coverings to the warmers. If you can put your hand on the outside of the tire warmers and they feel hot, then that means there is heat escaping from the backside of the warmer. Add another blanket or insulation of some sort on the outside of the warmer. Just make sure the blanket that you use can take the heat.
5. And this is a biggie. We just found this out at the last event. We have been using a 3200W generator plugged into the trailer, then an extension cord plugged into the trailer, then a duplex cord into that and then finally into the two controllers. We were disappointed with the heat we were getting. It felt like we were getting about the same as the standard heat controllers even though we were using the high heat units.
On a whim, we unplugged the generator from the trailer and dragged it right over to the car and plugged the two controllers right into the generator.
INSTANT RESULT - The temps on the warmers immediately started to climb again all the way to the 200 degrees we were expecting.
So, the tip here is to reduce the amount of resistance between your power source and the controllers. Short extension cords. Large gauge wire extension cords only. If you can eliminate extension cords at all is the best.

Used mine for the cool 1st run at the Glen. While just a DE it was great to have grip at the start of the 1st run on a mid 50's morning. Another tip to add, when the wind whips through the garage it can be hard to get the lunchtime crockpot of chili warm so these are multipurpose tools beyond tire warming.

Nice. The fellow in the next stall looks sad because he has no warmers or chili.
The photo below shows a non-approved use of the warmers. I think there is actually something in the warnings about doing this.
Thanks
Ed
