Default SCCA GT2 Cup car compliance

Was looking at the 2012 GCR (p 354) trying to figure out what it takes to run '08 997 in nationals.

http://scca.cdn.racersites.com/prod/...edJanuary3.pdf

Looks like removal of door windows, add net, add front and rear window retention clips.

I'm not thrilled about chopping up the door or drilling holes to mount window clips. Anybody farther ahead on this or know if this is truely required. Locally (Nor Cal) there have been regional excemptions to leave the cars "as delivered", but its not uncommon to get a black flag from an unfamiliar worker asking to lower windows.....

Also didn't see anything about restrictor plate.

Appreciate any info.

Kevin

In SFR you can run in the "PC" class which doesn't require any changes to factory Cup cars. You can run them with the side windows, etc.

I did those mods to my stock '04 and '08 cups, I think they are improvements and won't cost much. You should get a bodyman to fill in the window frame and repaint it though.

Door windows in a cup car are stupid if you ask me. I put mine in for rain and travel (riv nuts).

Mike,
sounds like a good idea. Any chance for some pictures of the doors and windshield so we don't have to re-invent it.

Appreciate it if possible.

World Challenge makes us do the same things to the doors, I like the fresh air.

Sorry I couldn't find any good pictures.

But the rear straps need to have support on the BOTTOM of the rear window as they can push IN and fall in.

Hi Kevin, We have PC class in SFR to accommodate the stock cup cars. However, if you want to run in GT2 and especially in the Nationals, be cautious. The car is technically non compliant unless it meets the rules -no windows, window clips, net. A restrictor plate is required.

SCCA FasTrack News November 2011 Page 7 2.

RPM,
thanks for the info. I have run a Panoz GTS in SFR GT2 for the last 5 yrs. I'd like to run my '08 Cup car now, but need to comply with the SCCA GCR in the least "mutilating" way possible. The regional PC class would be an option too and maybe the compromise. I was thinking of doing some of the national races so that would require GT2 compliance.
