SCCA GT2 Nationals.... congrats Tom Wickersham
My good friend and mechanic won the SCCA GT2 Nationals on friday.
Tom Wickersham is a gifted driver who spends most of his time as a mechanic and providing local track support. He is well known for his expertise in the Miata and BMW world.
I aquired my '08 997 Cup last October, after 1 20' test session Tom was very close to track records. His first taste of Porsche sin.
He aquired an '08 997 Cup in July, and proceeded to "learn the car" and how to set it up in preparation for the Nationals. Its a steep learning curve sorting fact from fiction and getting things right in the "perfectly sorted" car that he bought.
He qualified 2nd ahead of a group of well supported and "high seat time" Porsches. He drove brilliantly eventually squeezing the car infront of him (2000# factory tube frame Toyota Celica) to "waffle." Despite substantial front end damage from an early bump he drove to a brilliant win.
Nice work from a Porsche rookie!

Would love to see the in-car vid of an end of season win if you can find it, especially as it sounded close!
