Default 08-13 cup problem

Just wanted to give everyone the heads up. Apparently theres a small nut on the resonance flap in 08-present cups imsa grand am and world challenge models. This guy seems to dismount himself occasionally and proceeds to destroy the motor.
Can't be checked unless you pull off the plenum/intake but shOuld be checked /tightened and loctited....

same thing happens on the street 997.2 RS. Had mine come off and detonate the engine last fall. Porsche replaced engine. Also there is Porsche recall (announced in the last few days) in Europe regarding this issue with the RS street cars...

Thank you, do you have any info or link to the recall?

To add insult to injury, after my engine died (both heads were damaged by piston chunks that broke when the screw came down), Porsche won't sell the shaft to fix it, seems you need to get the whole intake?!?!?!?

Glen, Mike,

Are you referring to one of the screws that are fastened to the air intake valve/butterfly? I asked my techs about this, but they had not heard or experienced any issues.

I'm also curious to see if PMNA does anything for RS's in the US&A...

I had my '08 Cup engine rebuilt at PMNA in July 2012. They replaced the intake and plenum which I thought was very strange. Wonder if this was the reason or now a problem.... phone calls to make!

Yes Mike K, I believe it's the tiny screw that holds the butterfly to the shaft.

Only on GA and WC cars? What about GTC cars? Have a few friends to warn.

Had this (I think) happen to a local guy with a 4.0 RS last fall. New crate engine under warranty... of course.

I think all '08 and up GT3 engines use this including GTC4 and 5
