"trophies or awards that people would race harder"
Haha I hope they aren't that stupid to believe that. The stickers they give out ridicules I end up throwing them out. We all pay lots of money to race I think PCA can do a better job giving out a trophy or plaque. It helps promote the PCA as well. The stickers are embarrassing

I just tossed out into the garbage, all of my "trophies " . A sad waste of trees and plastic. I kept the pictures and put them in an album. the pile was about 2 feet high. so much room in my office now for kid pictures!

When we used to run our club race at Carolina Motorsports Park, we had pretty nice glass trophies, many years ago. We even got "reprimanded" by the National Race staff for them...lol.. but we did them anyway.
We had a trophy sponsor (thank you Autometrics!) who, like us, believed that a nice momento of a job well done was worth it. Some racers even told us that they race our race specifically because we had cool trophies. Whether that was true or not, don't know, but we insisted on having them.

When you first start racing, you attend the trophy ceremony at the end of the day. You see the fast guys getting the trophies, and as you walk away empty handed, the determination is set in your mind to get a trophy one day. That's why they're important. It doesn't matter if they're made of plastic or toothpicks. They are the affirmation that you have made it.

For such a small field it is kinda surprising, but then again it is spread out over 8 race weekends with the same group of drivers.

I have been pondering the same question myself.
I know everybody is trying hard to lower their lap times because they are all the same spec and need to find an edge somewhere..The cars are all so closely matched.
These cars also like to be pushed 10/10ths. Trouble is, chit happens at 10/10s.
It is hard to resist the urge to drive em' at the absolute limit.
Until you crash that is.
The competitive spirit is alive and well in the series, thats for sure.
Should be interesting to see what it will be like when they add 991 Cup cars to the series next year!

Never really thought about it, but we probably lose on average 1 car per event! Lately it has been during test and tune days prior to the event!

I race a lot with John F and Charlie C who are two of the CS guys. They sometimes let us breath the same air in the paddock!

Last year i used to play it up to the other guys under my tent who were GTB1 and GTB3... I used to tell them that we CS guys have to chase fans away at the airport looking for autographs etc... makes it harder to focus on racing and to take pity on us....

Snowflake trophies
All the snow flakes of the next generation will demand participation trophies. in fact, maybe there will be no racing and only DE "races".

Well I am no longer actively involved in racing, but for many years I was. While I certainly appreciated credits towards tires through Bob Woodman, I thoroughly enjoyed placing a trophy on my "trophy shelf".

Very nice, Dan! Just think....those trophies only cost you the better part of half a million dollars!
