Default Missing the Boxster

Had a 996, then a Spec Boxster, and now race a radical sr3.
I have a Miata, but I miss driving the boxster. Any thoughts on buying a 986, upgrading pads, suspension, removing the convertible, adding a hard top and using on street/track?

Hey, Sean, I keep thinking the same thing -- there's a cool track (Calabogie) an hour from my place that I still haven't been to because I keep the trailer an hour in the opposite direction. A street car with track pads would at least allow me to play around in the evenings after work!

Great track, be careful of oil starvation because of the long load on many corners

My first track car was an 01 Boxster. They are fading as a DE car as the Caymans get less expensive but still a hoot. Hardtops are a bit pricey though as they were not standard. Puts some PFC's on it and head to the track!

I have a street/track 986 and its great fun, but I have no faith in that motor. Chassis is terrific, even with crappy old suspension.

I ended up with a Boxster S wanna be, and with some better pads and some NT01s, its a fun car to throw around.

they are so cheap, if you have the room, why not?

the thinking is that they are really cheap, fun to drive, have the hardtop already, sell the miata to make room

986 boxster S would also be fun as a street/track car. Only a little more expensive than non S models and have a better tranny, brakes, and more power. Just a thought.

Boxster S is a much better choice, mainly due to better transmission

With regards to the 996 vs Boxster - did you have a preference?

Seems like this is what you are seeking...

https://rennlist.com/forums/vehicle-...boxster-s.html

Price reduced to $12500 but that's firm as I will just keep it and continue to blast laps around CoTA to my hearts content.

From a driving perspective -- my lap times are comparable in the two cars -- It took a few laps to adjust to the lighter weight and the stickier tires of the SPB, but
if I keep the Boxster S -- and give it a diet -- wow that car could be really quick.
