Default Hankook Z214 questions

I'm looking at buying a set of "Stickier" tires over the Toyo RR. I have experience with the R6 and R7. Just curious since there are alot of guys who love the Hankook Z214. I have searched and found some good info. Being the car weighs <1800 pounds with driver, I guessing they should last a long, long time. I heatcycle the RR's out with TONS of rubber left. Also, with the weight of the car, I guessing the even "Stickier" A7's or the soft compound Hankooks could last a decent amount of time also, right?

I know that the Hankook supplies are somewhat a crapshoot throughout the year, but seeing what you guys think.

I love them. On a ~2800lb car, they last about 20 heat cycles, more or less. After that they are not as sticky, but they still are as good as NT-01s until they cord. On my car, a BMW E36 M3, they are good for about 2 seconds a lap faster than NT-01s for a track with a nominal 2 min lap (TWS, RIP)

ETA: Stock can be iffy. If you really want them, buy them when you can.

Tried to order Hankooks from Tire Rack a few times , either they were out of stock or they were on a boat on their way with no
fixed ETA , or they weren't on "that" boat ... finally gave up and stuck with Hoosiers !

From what i read though , they are a nice tire !

If they were doing that, I would expect their in-stock performance to be better.

My guess is the top management really doesn't care about it but there are some true believers within the belly of the beast doing their best in the corporate bureaucracy.

So I can expect them to have more stick than the RR's correct? More towards Hoosier R7 stick correct?

C51 compound is similar to R7
C71 compound is similar to A7
C91 = I've never used but holy crap they have to be sticky

I usually go with the C51, when I get them. They're about 2/3 the $ as R7 and just about as quick. I get about 6-8 competitive races out of a set. You could go longer if you're DE and don't care about a little bit of time lost.

I put on a new set of C51 for my championship race this past year after qualifying on NT-01's. They were 6 seconds faster (big track 2:10) than the NT01's LOL!

So if they are sticky for 20HCs, how many HCs until they cord usually?

If HPDE's average 10 HCs per weekend, wonder if they would cord after 4 weekends?

NT01's have no issue running 6+ weekends routinely. Double duty on multiple weekends. Just trying to get an idea of how much life these tires have as they would be a perfect middle ground but not sure its worth an increase of 50% in tire budgets for HPDE driving....

I want to say they lasted about 33 sessions, but the magic went away after 18 or so. I know they didn't go 40.

No bones about it, they cost more than NT-01s. I haven't maxed out my performance on NT-01s yet, so I'm not spending the extra money since I'm just DE'ing . No really driving in the last year with life getting in the way, so the data isn't current and perhaps a bit fuzzy.

I think the NT-01 is a great budget DE tire.

I’m scared to share this link without even having a chance to take advantage of it. But they keep tires stocked. Not like tire rack that orders occasional pallets.

https://america.hankookracetire.com/.../hankook-z214/

Im thinking of going to these from NT01s too. I’ve liked that NT01s seem to work great with a lot of slip angle (which suits my driving). Can anyone comment on how the z214s perform with a lot of slip? Will I cook them very fast? Do I have to baby them or should I be ok?

It's interesting that the site does not provide an option to specify C51, C71 or C91.
