Don't think the 981 GT4's are homologated anymore for IMSA this year.

Per Porsche "The 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport "Competition model features a spec sheet full of details relevant for racing. The shock absorbers can be adjusted in three stages. The safety fuel tank with a capacity of 30.3 gallons (115 liters) is suitable for long-distance events. Thanks to a brake balance system, the bias can be infinitely adjusted between the front and rear axle. An integrated air jack system helps guarantee fast pit stops. The quick-release racing steering wheel adopted from the 911 GT3 R ensures a range of adjustment options for the individual needs of the drivers. An automatic fire extinguishing system adds another safety feature for the racetrack.

A MR lightweight kit adds lightness to the Competition variant and available to race in the highest levels of GT4. Including lightweight BBS wheels, carbon fiber bumper, rear deck lid, front fenders, hood, and rear diffuser, this Cayman GT4 Clubsport is eligible to race in Michelin Pilot Challenge. North American pricing for the Competition version with the lightweight MR kit is $209,000 excluding spares, transport and tax.

That was part of the thrash. Get them to the teams first. Track Edition much later. All the cars at the Roar, AFAIK, were 718 GT4 variants.

They're MUCH quicker than the 981 cars...

I think a big chunk of the speed this year is coming from the new Michelin tires and not rebranded Hoosiers

Great to see these cars on real race tires IMO

The Michelins are magic for the first 5 laps. After that they fall off.

IMSA will be 718GT4 only, however would you happen to know if PWC will still allow the 981 GT4?
PMNA just release news that 718GT4CS for PWC will be delayed due to EPA and govt shut down...... Might not make it in time for season opener in March...

I was surprised they have you on their medium compound (8) at Daytona ostensibly because of the colder temps. I would think the 9's would last longer in a race environment but who knows without testing....

We were still running mid 53 s with tires that had beyond a stint of use. Tire deg was minimal on our and would have a peek if you guys weren't seeing similar trends

We ran only one set on the first day for both 1 hour sessions. Ended with a flat with 15 minutes to go on final session. So almost two hours of run time on the tires.
The tires felt good for both sessions but we were still chasing suspension set up so lap times were not staggering.

We really like the tires.

I'm surprised it wasn't more....

Did you notice the weight for the new Aston? Second heaviest car in the field (after Mustangs) and it hasn't turned a lap here yet....

And an IMSA specific engine map, too. Hate that for them going in with no test time...

I see it's going to run #97 with 3 drivers. They are Rob Ecklin, Brandon Kidd, and Ramin Abdolvahabi. I look forward to watching them run....
