He's lucky he split those cars.
I counted 3 seconds from the time I saw the tire smoke to the time he lifted and then panicked.
A good example of your hands go where your eyes go.

if you watch him talking in the video he describes that the trajectory of the car would have him collide with the car on the left. So he hit the throttle hard when he went on the grass to push the car forward. Maybe not a classic save but a damn good reaction to avoid a crash. The car on the right had it’s engine blown and put all that oil on the track. The car on the left just washed out on the oil just like him.

Underscores the importance of corner workers. Two flag stations prior were unmanned (could have received alert calls and thrown early warning) and the incident corner flag worker looked to be asleep at the wheel.
Also underscores the concepts of luck and all the gear all the time... that could have ended very badly.

There was oil spilled all the way from the exit of the previous turn to the place where he left the track (hence two cars already off there), so he was mostly a passenger for these 3 seconds.

After watching it a few more times, I disagree that he was a passenger for the 3 second. He’s definitely accelerating and then hits oil and then he’s a passenger. All the cars in the video behind him seemed to avoid the oil

There is a lot of stupidity in this video in my opinion. First he saw the smoke and didn't lift WTF also you can clearly see the oil in the video I know that its not always as easy in the moment but come on. Also I saw the video from the car that blew on instagram and the thing is knocking like crazy going into the last turn leadings to the front straight where the video started. The guy had the chance to pit and didn't and tore up 2 almost 3 cars because of it. DUMB!!

Speed + Grass = No Control
No Control + Not Hitting Spun Cars = Luck
Der ABT sliding his car sideways from hitting oil from a blown motor is what saved me at Summit Point a few years ago. He had no chance but if I had't had my eyes up I would have followed him.

This.
The screenshot with 99% throttle for that picosecond in the mud while sideways... sure... that car was going to go where it wanted to and he was lucky.
So much wrong here... so thankful for no carnage and no injuries... but he talks about a save during this 'race' on his YouTube channel...
