Go argue politics in the correct forum, many of us don't want that **** here.
Back on topic, NOLA PCA race was cancelled, I'm guessing Road Atlanta is next.

I am sad to see Circuit of Americas potentially shut down a long time - I've run that course more than a few times on the SIM and it might be my most enjoyable track in the country (albeit on a simulator). I just reminded myself that Audi does a driver's experience there. If we make it out the other side of this, I may treat myself to a weekend of R8s at COTA.

Right, the Ridge event was changed to have no meetings (using conference calls before the event), no post-session debriefs, only pre-made box lunches... but, being in WA, the optics aren't good.

Re: PCA NOLA Cup 2020
From the Office of Louisiana Governor Jon Bel Edwards:
"Today, Gov. Edwards took additional significant measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in Louisiana, further limiting the size of gatherings to fewer than 50 people, closing casinos, bars and movie theaters and limiting restaurants to delivery, take out and drive-through orders only. These changes are effective statewide at midnight."
Because we cannot adhere to the limit of 50 people the event has been canceled. This is, of course, not what we would have liked but we must follow the governmental guidelines. Word on credits or refunds of entry fees will be forth coming. We do have the weekend of June 26/27 reserved at NOLA for a Driver’s Ed which could possibly be used for a make up date. More to follow on that also. If this date would be of interest to you and your track friends, please let me know.
Please stay safe and we look forward to returning to racing as soon as possible.
John"

Lets say all of this turns into a single case transported to Louisiana that pops up a week later. The virus spreads at a rate of ~X10 per week. Week 1 -- One case, Week 2 -- 10 cases, Week 3 100 cases, Week 4 1000 cases.... All so someone can have fun driving on the race track. I hate it too, but let's face it, what we do for fun is trivial in the grand scheme of the world.

This is the new model out of the UK that changed the sense of urgency in the white house and created the new restrictions (it was mentioned in the press conference yesterday). It's not pretty

It's a safe link
This is where POTUS got his August answer to the question when will we be through this. Also, note the unconstranined model in the US results in 2.2 million deaths.

MSRH isn't bad, but it does not have the draw of TWS and COTA is more expensive weekend than TWS even if one does not count the typical $250/weekend track fees for instructors. For students, COTA is much more expensive than TWS or MSRH.

Last Friday I got on a plane and went to Disney World and thought the whole virus thing was way overblown. As the days ticked by it got a little weird to the point where I could not wait to get home.
When I pulled in the driveway on Sunday I marched straight into the house, went to my safe, and grabbed my carry gun.
While I am now worried about the virus I am more worried about people. It only takes a couple of weeks for social order to break down and that is my main concern at this point.
My wife laughed at my prepping supplies - she isn't laughing now.
Only yesterday I was saying "let's wait and see" about cancelling events but I have come to the conclusion that regardless of the mortality rate we should just wait this one out. I simply don't trust people to act rationally.
All this being said, I think the other big consideration no one is talking about is the economy and stock market having an effect on track events. Anyone who has any money in the market is getting killed right now. Anyone who has a business, despite selling toilet paper or hand sanitizer, is getting killed. People are going to pull back this year - it's only natural.

I expect that the economic impact will be severe. China got the virus under control with their lockdown, but they do have a lot of economic impact, and they may eventually need to do a lockdown again. I haven't dared to look at how much my investments have dropped. I'm prepared for a lower standard of living in the future, if necessary.
