I'm guessing just like me, you would have loved to be at Road America this year to see the sights and have some normalcy. But, we're not and busy here!

So what does Jim mean exactly when he says "breathe and squeeze"? Before I went to Road America over the Fourth, I saw another video of him at RA and that's what he said as he entered the kink. So I was thinking about that just as I was at the kink, too, wondering if it means to something like be super smooth on the power there and breathe - because it takes a little faith?

Glad he's ok.

Breathe=come off throttle, partially or fully, and
Squeeze= gentle, linear progression to WOT

Old Skippy phrase... for fast corners where brakes might upset the platform

Great to see the outcome for sure. I have posted this before, probably a few times, but I was @ Road Atlanta in '89 when Scott Liebler had his roll hoop failure. I was on the hill and was 8. That is seared into my memory like you wouldn't believe. Any time I see a roll/flip over like this without a roof it all comes flooding back. So glad to see he walked away!

Some day we will have to talk about that weekend in person. That was a bad bad weekend. Including the gentleman Marshall that got caught up by the wing of a can-am-ish car at pit out; I saw that too, as it happened. And it was rainy, if you remember, at that point. I am an elephant in that way; I remember everything. People so easily forget how dangerous this all was even "back then" which wasn't even "back then" "back then."

Where’s the “sad” button.

You’re absolutely right...

First off- I'm glad he wasn't injured. He is claiming 1000hp - back when they were current a good 510 did 770hp. Also the tires are now much better than 1974. Where do you want to stop? I think the owner needs to step back and re evaluate- these are now historic exhibition cars and would put on a good show racing at 90% of the original . He has now lost 2 cars counting the Laguna blowover, time to rethink this, next time they may not be so lucky. Just because you can put a 1000 hp motor in it, doesn't mean you should. The motors have changed, the cars remain the same- flat bottom with no current aero tricks.
My background is I crewed on a M8D/4 x Denny Hulme team car ( the car in my avator) in the original Can Am series and the car could run pretty close to the Shadows. Would I put a 1000 hp motor in it now?- no way, just asking for trouble.
Again I am glad of the outcome, vintage racing is supposed to be fun.
