As has been said many times before, the car can be replaced (as sad as it may be), but people can't. Glad you're ok. Lucky your throttle failure happened on such a short area of the track and had something solid to stop you.

I had a similar incident yesterday at VIR where my ABS failed and locked the rears immediately on braking in Turn 1. Went for quite a ride spinning across the track and stopped about 2 ft from the wall. I got out much luckier than you with no serious car damage, but it was still eye opening.

It's an excellent reminder to always wear every piece of safety gear that you own. Even if you're going for a just a few test laps. You never know what's going to happen that is out of your control.

Again, great to hear that you're ok.

this is not really a common spot for an accident. Usually incidents here involve people getting too hard on the gas exiting 5 and hitting the inside tirewall, where there is more than 1 row.

Where the op hit is unusual, but the key point is that accidents happen, so wear the gear.

Summit point main is a great track, but there are certainly a few pucker spots if you're really pushing.

So glad you're ok, Bob. Even more glad that it didn't happen in T4...

So true... ATGATT

Bob, glad to see that you're ok!

Thank goodness the speed was reasonable and you didn't have lift off.

Yea was bummed on the test day to see the car come off the track like that. Was on my list of things to checkout because that car is so cool. ...you’re ok and that’s what’s really important... hopefully you can pick away at getting back together, and personally, I think you should pack your race trailer with Swedish fish and sell them at the track with the proceeds going towards the re- build😁

wow, sorry to see the damage but glad to hear you're ok. Best of luck getting the car sorted.
Thanks for the safety reminder. I get too lax sometimes.

I had the same thing happen to me three weeks before this event at Dominion Raceway. Fortunately I caught it, hit the kill switch and pulled onto the grass for the tow of shame.

Saw yours come in on the rollback and my heart sank. Always admired that car and the build quality. Glad you're ok!

Thanks Mike - we were very proud of the work we did to get it to where it was. Nadine and I did much of the work ourselves (except welding, paint and engine/trans work).
I've always said to myself that a simple "hit the kill switch" would be easy if a throttle ever stuck. But 1 second is obviously not enough time to react I guess.
