Default Finally Bought a 996 Cup!

I’m beyond excited and can’t wait to get this car on track! This has been a dream of mine since I first saw one back in 2005 at Roebling Road, but I really wasn’t sure I’d ever get here. Feeling super grateful to own this car right now

Any tips or pointers are welcome...

Sweet! It looks very clean. Those are great cars and a ton of fun. I could only imagine having the first Cup Car I saw at the track in person... You're going to have so much fun!

Thanks Peter, I'm certain I will! Got about a lap and a half as a passenger in the car with Bryan Sellers yesterday (couldn't do more as a black flag all came out) and it was incredible!

Thanks, I never thought I'd be in a position to buy a factory racecar but I'm glad to own one now! I will be posting about my experiences as I go along so stay tuned

I took the advice of a LOT of people and bought the cleanest, freshest car that I could find (and the seller was very good to deal with throughout it all).

It was quotes like this that kept bringing me back to the 996 Cup and why I finally bought one

Big thanks to everyone here who endured hearing from me (over and over) and having me ask a ton of questions while trying to decipher what I wanted to do and cull through all my options for what was out there.

Is a 996 cup self-supportable for someone with average mechanic skills/knowledge? I’ve been looking at these as good ones seem to be really affordable (relative, I know) to purchase but no idea how hard/expensive they are to maintain.

This is the other reason I went 996 Cup... I greatly enjoy being both the mechanic and the driver so this car fits the bill nicely for me.

I would say as long as you are willing to invest in the proper tools, air-jack tanks, etc. why not? Take it to a specialty shop for set ups, maybe some advice on what to look for, and go.

Yes, but I very likely won’t get a chance to drive it unfortunately. Another chance will come soon enough

The cheapest part of a race car is buying it! Keeping it going is the expensive part.
