Tracks in Arizona
Just boarded our flight to Phoenix with my son and who is attending ASU starting next fall semester as a freshman. We’re visiting until Sunday to meet with his advisors and get his dorming and schedule in order and tour the campus. He’s nervous so hopefully this trip puts him at ease. Pretty much just hanging in Tempe for the week and chilling with the kid.
Seeing as I’ll be visiting him for the next 4 years in Tempe, are there any tracks in Arizona that I could take a side trip to and rent/arrive and drive.m? Maybe I’ll even ship a track car down and leave it there for the 4 years if I find a decent track and a shop to handle the car.
I haven’t really found any yet.
Just wanna find a relatively close track first.
Any suggestions?

Drifting
Recommend getting out of Tempe and cruising around the Desert, it's beautiful this time of year, lots of rain lately so wildflower blooms should be lovely if you are into that sort of thing. Take a drive to Sedona and/or Grand Canyon national park if you have time.

Apexmotorclub.com. It's actually in Maricopa, AZ which is about 45 minutes south of Phoenix and an hour south of Scottsdale. Private membership track. Memberships are around $50k IIRC and $5-6k a year for dues. Great track. We are members and go weekly. Currently 2 miles and was bult 2 years ago. Another 2 miles will be added in the next year for a 4.3 mile track.

Apex looks nice and is a private club with “reasonable” costs.
$50K initiation 1 time fee and $5000/yr for pretty much unlimited track days. Includes guest passes every month as well.
Something I’ll be thinking pretty hard about, especially if I can leave a car there.
No time this trip to check out the track, but I have a call in to them to discuss membership.
Looks like they’ll be connecting the 2 tracks to make a 5 mile circuit. Will do my research and report back. Also gives me access to some of the Cali tracks for long weekends.
Decisions decisions decisions...
