So the seats that fall in the date range but are from 2017 are worth zero, lol these guys are complete ********. This will turn into a lot of lost business.

Just as I was about to put a set of $8k Podium seats in my project car this has locked up the brakes for that purchase!

They are not the company they used to be I guess. I was a Recaro seat distributor in Texas in the 80’s and never would imagine them doing this. Don’t use them but we won’t replace them one for one. We sold you unsafe seats but throw them away so we are not liable?

And sadly both of my project cars now have Recaro XLs.

I was about to send my form in but if my seat is worth near zero then I’ll just go Sabelt.

Has Recaro said what the issue is with the seats that caused this?

Sounds like some of you have actually heard from Recaro.

They are sitting in my basement - interfering with space in my exercise room - thanks Recaro for the excellent customer support for the unsafe worthless product

It failed the FIA testing to meet the crash spec but by how much and in what specific way I have not heard.

Is the Sabelt GT3 a similar fitment to the Profi XL?

I'm having trouble finding a similar fitting seat. I tried the Cobra Imola GT and while the bottom fits similarly, it's a bit too wide in the chest area (relatively). The Profi XL was pretty perfect for me. If anything, I wouldn't mind an ever so slightly tighter fit.

I did get an email from Recaro - they are going to take care of the issue. I think they are foolish to have allowed it to take so long to get answers to customers - a whole track season basically which forces people to come up with a plan B that might be an expensive and time-consuming plan B. Disappointing but in the end I think I am made whole. Hopefully the rest of you who purchased these seats will be taken care of - check your junk-mail folder if you haven't heard from Recaro.

Just wanted to come in and say thank you for this thread. I bought a Recaro Profi SPG XL off of ebay a couple of years ago, not from an official retailer but some ebay seller. It was basically brand new but obviously not from an official retailer and had just been sitting for a couple of years (2024 expiry) and I saved a couple hundred bucks buying it that way. I saw this and thought I might be screwed with this potentially unsafe seat and no way to get a replacement. But I filled out the form anyway and uploaded my eBay invoice and ended up getting my replacement seat yesterday. Super excited and thankful to have seen this. If only I felt comfortable to keep the original as a passenger seat, would have been great, but I might use it as an office chair at least.
