They are trying to slowly choke the track to death by reducing the number of paying customers who can come to it

Yes, it sucks - but the majority of events run at LCMT are not races. Tons of DE from all the marque car clubs, private car clubs and lapping days fill the calendar from May to September. Most sports cars (not unmuffled race cars) will pass. With turndowns and non-invasive solutions, that includes all the current GT cars.

I've run Supercups on a 993 (obnoxious loud, low pitch, pass) and cat bypass GT3 (otherwise stock, 8K RPM, pass) - so it's not the end of the world for the hobbyist. As for the 10 days of racing that has been traditionally held each summer - yeah, that's going to be a challenge but not going to affect the track itself IMO. If it eventually closes, it won't be the lack of amateur 'racing' that killed it.

Cheers

Matt

Having lived with Lime Rock's 87db rule for years in my opinion 92 is very doable In fact a 996 cup with a stock muffler will pass that

What stock muffler is that on a 996 Cup? I thought the ‘loud’ version was 110db and the ‘quiet’ one was 103db or am I misinformed?

I can assure you that it does not. My new to me 6 Cup had the stock muffler AND Supertrapps attached at the tailpipes, and still blew a 92.5 and then a 92.7. I believe the only solution to make sound is the Cargraphic pre-muffler before the stock. Of course, thats manufactured in Germany to order with a min 5-6 week lead time... So, I have a total of 6 laps at my "home" track this year. Incredibly frustrating.

Are you sure about that? 996 Cup? I don't drive one, but I know how freakin loud they are. Can't see them passing dBs at LCMT, but what do I know.

Re: the Cup, I'd guess Dan is saying if you put a stock street muffler on a Cup it will pass?

Unfortunately, no. Ive gotten 2 days in at the Glen 2 weeks ago for driving. Instructed at a couple events when other issues precluded me from being able to drive but I had committed already. Have the pre-mufflers on order but havent arrived yet. I'm just dead in the water With respect to Tremblant right now.

It really comes down to 3 homeowners who are making a big stink and have been stirring the pot re. engaging legal challenges to the track.

Depressing. And an example of first world entitlement at its best (or worst?).

The track is part of Tremblant's heritage and a key part of what drives the local summer economy.

Indeed on all the above.

Can't we send them some poisoned poutine or something?
