Guess it was Hezemans. Still a shame about Joey and others.

That is the most I watched NASCAR since the 80s. With the rain it was actually some exciting racing.
I'll say one thing - those NASCAR boys are brave going three wide up the esses and two wide into the bus stop.

Watched both races this weekend and thought they were both very entertaining- both the Xfinity and cup cars were dancing through the bus stop. Surprised cars that heavy can fly like that. F1 better watch it or they'll be that heavy before long! I don't hold my breath that they'll actually get smaller of lighter cars in '26. The greenies will add more "planet saving" crap to make them relevant...
Back to the topic- thought Kimi did himself proud considering, and Rocky did pretty decent as well. Kvyat was pretty invisible, and barely mentioned.
Even being a F1 fan since the '60's, the road course tin top races actually have more "racing" and passing etc. than most F1 races if we're being honest...

Damn hillbillies crashed out KIMI, how dare they
Similarly impressed with the road course capabilities of the oval regulars. Must be a lot of simulator work? Chastain (teammate) said Kimi was quicker in the sim almost immediately. And Kimi was <1/2 second to him in quali.
Believe it was onboard with Elliot who passed Kimi on the back straight before the bus stop. Looked like Elliot was lower speed through T2 and then much earlier to full throttle. Got a big run on Kimi through 3 & 4 before the pass. Suppose that would be a major reprogramming for Kimi, no F1 aero, carrying so much less speed into the corners even though the approach speeds are sometimes in the ballpark. (They were 170 into the bus stop? Geezus.)
The cable camera (?) through the bus stop was killer. F1 and other series need to do similar. My main beef with motorsport on TV, not enough camera views to convey the speed.

Racer
Right, I saw 170-172 before the bus stop in the dry, plus as noted the racing thru the Esses is crazy! I can appreciate the safety rules of PCA that don't let us go over the curbs at turn 1 and other places, obviously not a problem for the NASCAR and other pro racers!!!

Got a kick out of that. Every bit of pavement, some mowing exiting the bus stop, it was all fair game.
My son who gets black flagged in iracing on T1 exit came in when like 6 guys were 50' over the exit curbing, "hey, track limits!"
"they don't do no track limits you wimp"

It helps that I was at WGI when Kimi and crew showed up, but like others have said this is the most I've watched in a long time.
It took me the better part of my first day at WGI to stay full throttle through the esses. I can't imagine doing it with real power, three wide...

We were at a bar last night after coming back from our local track and saw the end of the race and interview with Kimi.....couldn't hear what he was saying, but he was on the screen a long time and Nadine commented "holy cow, that's gotta be the longest he's ever talked to a reporter!"
I watched some highlights later and agree...this weekend he's probably said more words into a microphone than his entire time in F1!

Was also interesting to hear several of the regular tin top drivers during interviews saying they're F1 fans and have been watching the races for years... and that they couldn't wait to meet Kimi but didn't want to bother him! Agree that Kimi seemed to have more personality than I've seen in ages. Hope he comes back.
Really impressed with Justin Marks- he has done a LOT since buying the remains of Chip's program.
