Default GT4 arriving with sofa seats. Aftermarket seat choices?

Supposed to arrive in March and Sport Buckets not available. Intended use is as a DE car with little street use. It will get a roll bar, 6 points, seats.
Reasonable seat options? Advanced driver and Club Motorsports member.

Aftermarket seats in a dual duty car mostly used on track? I would go with the Sparco Ergo to give the Halo safety feature I personally think is extremely important but that is removable when not on track to improve visibility.

Option #2 if you are not wanting Halo protection would be a set of used Porsche buckets, euro Gt3 seat, etc IMO.

That's Rennlist for ya. What seat should I buy? A $150k racecar. :-)

Googled that seat and WOWSA. Didn't realize they made seats that expensive.

I've been thinking about the Sparco Ergo. It looks like it's discontinued but still available. Any positive or negative reviews from actual users?

I had one, it was comfy for me, sturdy, and well built with fabric reinforcement well placed. No complaints at all and liked the removable Halo feature.

^^^ This! Honestly, OP, I'm in exactly your situation. 2022 GT4 with sofas that I want to use exclusively on track. Ultimately, you get to a point where you want to get serious about safety and going faster, and adding seats and harnesses is better, but you realize you ultimately have a street car. So, I've already decided to follow ^^this^^ advice and am on the list for the RS Clubsport and on the hunt for a used one in the meantime. Wish I had not been dismissive of this advice from the beginning. If you're serious about the track -- racing or not -- then I'd give it a good think.

If going with a proper track seat (I’d do it) take a look at RaceTech seats.

Sparco Ergo is a great dual purpose seat. I had them in my 997 GT3 street car before I moved to a cup. I sold my seats to a friend with a GT4. He liked them as well for the one season he used them before moving into his cup car. I found the removable halo handy. Extra protection on track but easy to remove for street driving.

I had an OMP HTE-R halo seat in my 991 and loved the fit and support on track. Just be aware that the airbag warning light with any aftermarket seat will be a constant annoyance. Dealerships won’t code out the warning, and most indy shops that actually have access to the expensive Porsche factory coding tool won’t do it either, due to liability concerns. At least that’s the case in NY.

I ran SPARCO Ergo GRP Light 8855 the last few years in my GT4 (981). They were an excellent seat for the track. Good seat for the road. I say that as they are a race seat and you don't slide in and out like a street seat. Removable halos make them much better than most for the street.
I moved to a 997.1 GT3 Cup this past year and changed my GT4 back to a road car. I have the pair of seats with side mounts and will be putting them for sale. They are 2022 expiry but that doesn't matter gor DEs). I also have the CMS roll cage in satin black I'll be selling. They are all in excellent condition. PM me if interested.

I had the Recaro, loved them on the track, the fit was snug and my arms were there strictly for driving. However, as a street car they were a nightmare, very hard to get in and out of, and you need to be mindful of your passengers as larger people will not fit in them. Then there are the halos while street driving, you do a lot of rocking back and forth and swinging around with your head in day-to-day multi lane traffic with the halos.

I swapped them out for the Sparco’s. Here’s how I would draw the line:
75% track, occasional daily drive (25%) - go Recaro
25% track and a lot of daily driving (like to work regularly) - go Sparco
50% sort of iffy, I did get a lot of comments and thumbs up from the Recaros (while driving around town), they are quite obvious in the car.

Congrats on the inbound GT4 !

Having owned my 981 GT4 with carbon buckets going on 5+ yrs , I don't think it's such a bad thing yours is coming with sofas that you're willing to swap out anyways. Visually the 918 buckets are stunning to look at , but now that I'm so used to them, I yearn for way more snugness and shoulder support , even for spirited mountain drives . Sparco Ergo 2's would be my choice as well with perhaps some type of Pascha or Houndstooth insert for the back upright which comes alcantara .

I have a few Recaro seat options for sale. Two are already mounted on sliders and will drop right into the GT4 chassis:

Unfortunately, shipping is very expensive. I'd prefer local pick up, but willing to shipping on your preferred carrier.
