Yokohama vs Pirelli Vs Michelin Slicks
Looking for some feedback on Yokohama A-005 slicks. I used to track Pirelli DH but pricing has gone considerably up.
The Yokos are available and are cheaper. Another option could be Michelins
These will be used only for track days and short TTs (3-4 laps).

Michelins are very expensive but are probably the quickest...for a few laps. Yokohama are very good, on par with Pirelli IMO

Thanks for the feedback.....at least buying the DHs from Sasco they are more expensive than Michelins.
Phils in NY can source the Michelins...these slot price wise between Pirelli and Yoko,
Was very happy with DHs but it's looking like I will give the Yokos a try this year.

My experience in a 981 CS with Yokos was not positive. The sidewall is so stiff, you have to adjust suspension settings for it to really work. I have not tried Michelins yet but I prefer Pirellis 10x over Yokos. The only positive to the Yokos was that the deg was very linear, whereas the Pirellis drop off very quickly. I was on the medium compound Yokos and was going to 30 psi hot. My mechanic recommended dropping the psi to 28-29 and did find that is a better sweet spot for that tire.

Looks like the Pirelli DHF prices went up recently, so the Michelin N2s are $300 cheaper a set in the sizes I run.
Hankooks are $800 cheaper than Pirellis.
I don't have current pricing on yoko's.

Michelins are cheaper than Pirellis (wasn't always that way) but they do not make a good tire for 3 - 4 lap TTs as the sidewalls are very stiff and it takes them a while to come up to temperature. They are also fairly hard to come by these days in some of the more popular sizes.
I used to run the Yoko S01 and S02 on my Cayman and just had too many tire failures but I'm sure they have improved since then.

I just had a set of Pirelli DH priced up today (996 cup sizes) and the price came in at over 4K AUD! Madness. Yokohama are closer to $2800 AUD for a set. How do these compare to Pirelli in terms of outright lap speed? I understand they need less camber, but how much less?

Ya the prices on pirellis have gone insane! Michlins have gone up too but not as much as pirellis. A lot of pirelli sizes are now $800+ PER tire which is madness. Michelin not far behind at ~700 per in cup car sizes.
The michelin s8s are great tires. I do not like the N2 cup compound - very little front grip. I think they are just too hard for the front of a 911. Maybe only in very hot weather. The michelins tend to only be good for a couple of cycles though and then fall off hard. The pirellis are more consistent. I have not run Yoks in a long time.

I ran the Yokos last year with the set up recommended by regular Yoko users and did not like them at all. Rears would give up early and without warning. I'm slow on any tire but they were slower for me than the Pirellis. I sold a new set at a considerable loss I was so disenchanted. I really wanted to like them because they are cheaper but all those savings are lost when one spins into the blue bushes coming out of a corner.

The Hankooks could be made to work on the GT4/GT4RS...rear one is a bit larger than usual. They also have slightly better pricing than Yokos.
Those that use Hankooks how do you like them compared to other slicks?
