This country is really the epitome of "no hard landings". I would hope that a full disqualification, at least for the team prize money and team points, would be justified (I could see how there could be an argument for the drivers retaining their points). I would say the same if it were Penske or the Porsche factory. F**kery is not and should not to be tolerated.
This and the BOP stuff is testing my patience enough where I may not tune in to any of the broadcasts (I'm already watching on mute thanks to Leigh Diffey).

They did give the 992 GT3 R 5mm larger on the restrictor today, from Daytona’s 33mm to 38mm for Sebring.

Acura contested the ruling but were told they were full of hot air. Anyone?

From what I read it seemed like Mr Shank didnt know anything about it and fired the person responsible.
also, Tom Brady is linked to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, better double check all of the air gauges if he is around.

Race Car
Does it really matter who new about it and who didn't? The simple fact is that the car operated outside parameters set forth in the rulebook. Maybe they should put asterisks by the rules you can break and not be DQ'd...

Without having investigated this beyond what I've read in this thread, one thought - could a disgruntled team member look to get his team DQ'd by doing something stupid / against the rules that would likely get discovered by IMSA and get the team in trouble?

Of course! It does not matter why the rules were broken.
I can see it now…Acura is caught running a restrictor 5mm too large but claim a disgruntled employee did this on his own to get back at the team. Acura fires the employee and IMSA fines Acura even though they won by only 5 seconds. This would happen at every event….
No, you can’t use the “disgruntled employee defense”.

IMO, the drivers of #60 where finding a handling issue in a part of the race course that was causing a slow segment time. The engineers tried correcting the issue with suspension changes but the changes did not make the improvement expected.
#60 has high downforce so 1/4 - 1/2 psi lower than legal minimum tire pressure changes the spring rate of the tire; at full downforce the car ride height would be lower; as the downforce modulates based on car speed, the sidewall of the lower tire pressure springs pushes back at a slower rate after the tire patch is larger at full downforce, so the car ride height changes slower on the rebound and faster in compression.

Does anyone really believe that a single "rogue engineer" was the only team member involved or with knowledge of this? That seems ridiculous to me. I hope the fall guy was given some severance from MSR.

Here's the thing to me...IMSA didn't find it, HONDA found it and reported THEIR OWN TEAM. If I'm Mike Shank, I'm saying "Honda, guys, who's team are you on? How about coming to us first about what you found instead of reporting it to IMSA and throwing us under the bus!"

It's completely believable that Shank didn't know what was being done. Remember that Wayne Taylor said that part of the reason they teamed with Andretti is for the technical help. HPD had something like 45 people working on just two motors! There is no way that a team owner can be involved in that many decisions and the team keep moving forward.
I'm not surprised that HPD would turn them in. No way they can be caught up in something like this. That would put there validity up for questioning in Indycar, IMSA, touring cars, F4, and anything else that they touch.
