Default Laguna Seca Repave Schedule?

I know they are repaving Laguna, but I can't seem to find any recent status on if it's actually happened. I'm considering doing the Trans Am event May 5-7, which I believe was supposed to be the first event on new pavement....

Anybody have insight?

I live near the track and went by for a look last Sunday. I haven't seen a schedule, but lots of people working even on Sunday. The resurfacing had not started, but they were finishing new structures, run-off areas, and towers for the new bridge. I'd guess they're running behind given all the storms, but the actual paving is probably the last thing they do. The weather forecast is really clear now so I expect they'll be ready. Should be pretty cool to be among the very first to hit the new surface.

thanks for the insight! I'm a little worried about being first to run on it. I have heard some horror stories from last time they repaved about massive amounts of sand and ash they used to cure it making a huge mess of the cars....

Clay, don’t know if you ran chuckwalla after the repave, but still picking that crap out from under the car.
suspension/exhaust and wheels. Hard to remove without scratching the hell out of them, it was so abrasive.
The event two months later no issues at all.

According to Marshall Pruett, repaving is scheduled after the IMSA event in mid-May. They’re setting the new pedestrian bridge this week.

thanks! That makes more sense. my dad was going to run an Allen berg course in June and they just canceled it due to construction delays...

The track will close again May 16 to begin the full track resurfacing. The entire project will be fully completed, cured and ready for America’s premier motorcycle series, MotoAmerica Superbike SpeedFest July 7-9. -Racer Magazine 4/7/23

Repaving complete. I'll be there for a track day in early August, so other events should have the surface worn in and cleaned off by then!
