Default in car communicators

im sure this has been discussed but search function didnt help me out so apologies in advance if redundant.

what is a cost effective choice for in car hpde communicators? only need occasional light duty use but i had an old chatterbox and it was pretty flimsy.
and what about motorcycle ones? is bluetooth or wired better? i wouldnt want to keep student waiting at start line while bluetooth syncs up.

thanks for help

Unfortunately, cost effective and Chatterbox go hand in hand. I had one of the 6 pin originals but then went with the single pin Tandom Pro. It's nice that it clips to the side of your helmet, but again, for the price, it is what it is. We also had a bluetooth communicator at one point, but it was sometimes spotty so we stuck with the hardwired version.

Be forewarned that Chatterbox no longer produces student headsets for the Tandem Pro. You can find them occasionally on ebay but not that easy...

The original version of the Trac-com was pitiful but the newest version works great. I have 2 of them. And the person mentioned below has adaptor cables to connect to every type of helmet I know of.

Bob @ NaroEscape is my supplier. No better service or communication (pardon that pun) anywhere.

Let me know if I can help out.
TracCom is now the defacto preferred system for instructor/student in car communication. If you have a wired helmet, we have adapters for that, or just use the headset/intercom kit.

I can guide you through whatever you need if you have questions.

Heading to a new home. Thanks for the interest, sorry I couldn't get to everyone. Replied in the order I was contacted til I found a winner!

For in car the TracCom setup is pretty good - includes a audio out jack in case you are doing in car video or just want to record the comments.

TracCom, if you don't stick with INSTing, reselling it used will recoup more than you would be out for a Chatterbox. If you stick with it you're be glad you didn't do a new ChatterBox. Generous offer above for used Chatterbox. Check with your CDI the may have loaner ChatterBox units other INSTs have donated when they upgraded to TracCom.

Trac-com also offers a pretty cool bluetooth version that pairs up with your cell phone - good for chatting with fellow drivers on track during open sessions and/or motorcycle use.

I think most of the motorcycle communicators are more permanently mounted so tough to do this with different students on a DE weekend.
