"Surviving to Drive" by Guenther Steiner
I'm spending an excruciating week on the beach in Aruba and read Guenther's new book. I really enjoyed it. If you're a Guenther fan, you'll like the book.
The book covers the Haas 2022 season in detail and all of the big stories associated with the team and F1. He must have kept a daily diary to recall everything the way it is detailed in the book.
Topics include how FP/Q/GP went for each weekend, the Ukraine/Mazespin stories, Mick's future, Haas sponsorship etc etc etc.
He talks about his origins in motorsport including rally and his entry into F1 with Lauda/Jaguar. This dude has done a lot of different things in the sport.
I'm not much of a book reviewer so I'll stop here. This is an easy read and I had fun with it. I forgot to mention that it is funny AF in places and the book is packed with "fok" bombs as you would expect.
Guenther is still my #1 guy in F1 that I would like to have beers with.
Now back to the beach,...

I got it on Kindle last week and I see paperback and hardcover available currently also. I have a long CDG PHL flight tomorrow; should be able to knock it off in that time. Looking forward to it as a fan. I'll leave a mini-review FWIW in the next few days.

Sorry, you are correct. Kindle only until 8/1. The tabs for paperback and hardcover both say "Available." You don't get the pre-order notification until you click 'Buy'. Blame Jeff Bezos, not me!

Read it in one fell swoop on the plane yesterday. Very entertaining, easy read. Some nice insights into the F1 dynamic and a lot of fun anecdotes of his history in the sport. Pretty frank in his assessment of his current drivers. Good stuff whether you are a casual F1 fan or serious student of the sport. You'll get 6 hours of entertainment for the price of one session's worth of gas (or one lap for you guys running 110).

Those of you who read the book, do you feel that Steiner would be hired on with another team if Gene sold HAAS F1? He comes off as a loose cannon on TV, but maybe that's just a persona. It's difficult to figure out if he is competent or not or he's just working with what he has given the budget and need to bring on pay drivers.

Weird - I now see that also - I bought it about 10 days ago for Kindle and it a was routine transaction. I'm not sure what's up. Wondering if there's new material being added or if it's being edited - he was pretty frank about some things.
